Okay I’m not understanding the hero worshipping for this kid. I’ve seen Facebook post after Facebook post and Fox News clips depicting this kid as a hero who ridded the world of a few bad dudes and protected businesses.

I am honestly shocked at the hero worshipping this kid is getting for murdering people.
The understanding comes when you understand what atmosphere the bolded section (and all associated garbage info sources) has helped create in this country.

I spent some time talking to my boys about him last night. My boys are 20 and 23. Both went through a period of their lives in which they were very impressionable. Both were in danger, and my wife and I watched over them carefully through that period in their lives. It just seems to me that Rittenhouse didn't have that.

There are dangerous things in this world, and some of them are hard to see if you are not paying attention. Rittenhouse is responsible for his actions, but this was entirely avoidable. Now lives are lost, and other lives are horribly altered forever.

He is not a hero, and he probably isn't a villain. He is a kid who got caught up in things that he was not old enough to understand, dealing with consequences that he simply cannot process.

His life, as he knew it, is over - and it should be.

Idolizing him is reprehensible.

Yeah but even they usually won’t go that far. I can understand Alex Jones going that far, but usually Fox she’s away from glorifying mass shooters

Unfortunately they’ve had extra “concerns” lately and a big push vilifying any protestors as the enemy to their sacred cow.

These voices celebrating the death of these people are the same ones that just got done shouting all lives matter. Logic isn’t their strong suit.

This is all part of Trump's power - the ability to misdirect. But it is less effective if only his followers pay attention.

How do you debate someone willing to say things like this? You can't debate with madness or irrationality.

It doesn't help that one of them was a registered sex offender (with a minor) and the other had a history of domestic violence.

No, Rittenhouse isn't a hero - he's nothing but a stupid kid without guidance who let his hormones get the better of him. But when you're grasping at straws, seeing these grown men chasing a guy with a rifle down the street and then hearing about their background makes it a lot easier to change the narrative.

While I think pedophiles and wife beaters are some of the absolute scum of the earth, I still have more issue with a guy who is trying to be The Punisher in this situation. It’s like after all of these cop shooting unarmed black men cases, Fox and what ever pro police dig up all these criminal records on the guy they shot... really how does that really change the fact that someone in the wrong killed someone.

Look I can play around with the idea that he might can say he was acting in self defense in the 2nd video (though I really don’t agree that he was) but the first shooting he flat out murdered that dude. Let’s just say the dude wasn’t a pedophile.... does it change that someone with a gun murdered someone?

This wasn’t aimed at anyone on here, it’s just ive seen so many folks use the logic that he did the world a favor by protecting the businesses and killing guys with rap sheets.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not suggesting he's a hero - I'm simply explaining how in this situation, I can see how those who wish to view the protestors as the bad guys can do so. They're going into it wanting to see something and it's not a huge jump to go from reality to what they hoped to see.

The pic I put up in the other thread of him and his mother made me wonder if there were a father figure in the picture at all. I suspect not. If not, then the mother had to possess the Illinois FOID for him even to have the gun in the first place. I wonder if the mother knew he was out 20 minutes away, in another state, wandering around with a gun, playing LEO...

Not a huge leap, but that doesn't make it rational. It only helps to understand others if their thoughts are rational.

Depends on your perspective, honestly.

I think it's stupid to 'borrow trouble' as my FIL used to say quite a bit. But I understand that both the rhetoric from the left and in some part, reality is that these rioters (not protestors, but rioters) don't have the right to destroy businesses or threaten people.

So again, he's not a hero, he's a criminal. But if these idiots weren't playing stupid games, they'd not have won these stupid prizes. Grabbing a rifle to go a 'defend' property of people you don't know is stupid. Chasing a guy armed with a rifle down the street armed with a skateboard and a pistol is also stupid.

With this much stupid going on, no way anything good was going to happen.

We will never agree on this stuff. You see rioters and I see protesters. The only people playing stupid games to me here were the thugs with guns who showed up hoping to find trouble.

This is very important. We're through demonizing on this site. Period, no matter what personal, private opinions may be. If shaming is important, it needs to be taken to an entirely different site. Here it will be permanent suspension...

Thanks, and that certainly was not my intent. I greatly respect Brad's opinion, and his position. We simply see this differently.

Yes I think “both sides” were extremely stupid, but I think my issue is one side is dead for their stupidity and one side is given the “at a boy” treatment by many on social media and Fox.

I think the whole situation is sad all away around.

There’s a video going around purporting to be the hero jumping in and sucker punching a girl in a fight between two girls. Can’t link because of language of the guys narrating but it’s on reddit’s PublicFreakout sub for anyone interested.

It appears to be him, down to the same crocs from his gun pic.

Also a video of the alleged him getting his azz kicked for the sucker punch.
