Under the old rules Milroe and Arnold would be considered boosters. The modification is that all NIL is exclusive property of the school for the duration of their time on the roster. Any money received outside of this agreement is booster money and penalties under the agreement and from the NCAA ensue. Now that money is involved fines can be implemented.

If people would sit down and do the thoughtful work, it could be a better system than what we had before certainly for the schools from an enforcement standpoint.

I'm old enough that I saw Namath play at Bama.

For the first time in all those years I turned a Bama game off and watched a movie Saturday night. Over all of those years I would have expected Bama to find a way to win until the last seconds ticked off the clock. By midway through the second half against OU it was obvious these guys just don't care.

I actually dislike this Bama team. Haven't ever said that before either. I still love all things Bama, just not these guys. Truth is it's really only about 6-7 guys that are just...well, you know.

Is it true that if we fire CKD before Dec 1st we owe him nothing but after that date it would be $70 million?

With regard to the source of LANK funds, outside of my wife buying a shirt, I have never seen anything with the word on it except when it is one of the players involved. I find it difficult to think that there is much of a revenue stream from the merch.

Depending on the school, (Ga Tech is in my mind), there are opportunities to create companies out of dissertation research that then pay a license to the school. The school ain't contributing nothing, you know. Many millions of dollars in labs, labor, facilities, etc. that donors and, for public institutions, the state's citizens all contributed to. Same for athletes. Maybe they could pay a licensing fee to the U to be able to work out in nice weight rooms, play in a nice stadium, etc. Of course, I'm being facetious, but I don't really see much difference.
But that's not the point - the reality is the NCAA never had a legal leg to stand on to say that someone couldn't make money off their own NIL. And if the NCAA had actually softened that stance and allowed REAL NIL compensation to take place, there's a good chance we could have avoided the free-for-all that it has become.

But once again, the NCAA chose poorly and we're left to deal with the inevitable fallout.

Milroe needs to be told that we're moving on. If he stays at Alabama, he won't be the starter. Any players who are unable to escape his cult of personality are given the same message. It's hard for me to believe that quality players receiving money from LANK via Milroe can't be provided at least that much from other NLI offerings. LANK needs to be made irrelevant.

Is it fair to assume that TS is getting paid by Lank to sit on the bench and not make waves? Why has he not hit the portal?

When CKD named a starter before ever seeing a practice I new something had to be seriously amiss. What a mess Saban left us.

Who are the team captains this year?

Yes and NIL in general.

He said when he retired that almost every player he spoke with towards the end of last season was more concerned with their NIL pay than anything.

I’m not sure what can be done about NIL but he could have squashed the Lank stuff but opted to let it operate trying to win 1 last NC.

So he’s not blameless.

He let it be created…allowed it to continue and then rode off into the sunset with a mess behind him.
WHAT?!? CNS didn't LET it be created...SERIOUSLY?

NIL was forced down his (and all of CFB) throat. The NZAA could have put some guardrails in place...

We need CBA and we need it now!

I'm pretty sure NILs can't be performance or playing time - based. And I also think they can't be "if you come to this school you'll get $x but if you leave you stop getting $x. " Because it's NAME IMAGE LIKENESS which has nothing to do with the school - so they say. Correct me if I'm wrong.
If the contracts aren't accessible for review, who knows if they are or aren't performance or playing-time based...

Then you sit down with them and do some tough negotiating..............Bama has plenty of lawyers as do they. Hammer out some type of agreement wherein they dont interfere with operations. Make it mutually beneficial where it doesnt harm either party. As it stands, those who are involved now have held the team hostage............eliminate that and let them earn their money. Or as stated by others, form a union and collective bargaining where they sign contracts that have clauses where they are bound for a term and any detrimental conduct violates and voids all agreements...........it can be done
The player says nah, I'll go elsewhere...
