I really don't want to be the schoolmarm scold. But I'm getting tired of saying this. Used to be about once a quarter. Now it's about once a month or so.

Alternative spellings of profanity, cute transpositions, or any other attempt to convey the profane word without actually using it are treated exactly the same as if you put the word itself in bold, red, 64 point font.

How hard is this?

Every single poster acknowledges the board's rules and pledges to abide by them. Some posters apparently think they are above the rules. They are wrong.

If you can't abide by the rule against profanity or attempts to skirt the filters, take your business to a site that allows it. There are plenty of them.

I'm done with Beavis-and-Butthead attempts to circumvent the ban on profanity. Next time it happens, it's a minimum of a week's vacation, even if it's the first offense.

I don't know why you have given so many warnings. It's slap in the face to those of us that follow the rules. Break the profanity rule in any way you should immediately be suspended.

Coach talked about "choices and decisions" on Thursday. He said (like doing the horns-down sign), you know before you do it, it's wrong, and while you're doing it, it's wrong, but choose to do it anyway.

I'm often on the chain gang at Discovery middle, which is on the visitor sideline. It is extraordinary to hear coaches of 13-year olds use profanities at the refs, and their players. There is no excuse for it. It cheapens and debases the language, and traps the utterer in low and feeble habits. I applaud the profanity rule on this board.

I still don't understand why posters keep doing this.

As a side note: One thing I have noticed happening is if you have a word that ends in "S" and the next word is "hit" Tidefans read it as a naughty word.

You make a fair point, Toddrn.

Other mods can speak for themselves, but I guess the reason I personally haven’t suspended more posters for profanity is a reluctance to be “the profanity Nazi.”

But it’s kind of like playing partners on the PGA tour — they’re charged with calling violations on each other. I formerly thought that was being asked to be a tattletale, especially on the really technical stuff.

But then I heard a professional golfer saying that they’re not ratting each other out. Rather, they’re protecting the field — the other 60 - 100 players — from a guy posting a better score than he earned. And in their case, a single stroke can be worth seven figures.

Except for the financial implications, your point is exactly parallel, and I’ll take it to heart going forward.

To all posters: You have been warned multiple times. There will be no more warnings, only vacations.

My phone decides to do finicky"stuff" while I'm on a Walmart trip. I quoted it to say Coach Saban said we don't do that "stuff" With that said, just follow the rules guys and gals. It isn't hard to do.

During the offseason we sometimes ever so slightly relax on some of the rules, but allowing profanity is not one of them. During the season, we far less forgiving.

Therefore, since you agreed to this when you signed up and we've given ample warnings (@4Q Basket Case has been extremely gracious) I'm going to start suspending those who skirt the rules.

Choose wisely.

The site rules, at least as on the FAQ page, target "Gross vulgarity or obscenity," not mere profanity. If all profanity is banned---which is fine---it should be clear. This post is several months old and I wouldn't have seen it except for a new reply.
I don't know how we could make it any more clear, with multiple threads and posts as well as a FAQ entry

But for your sake, here you go - TIDEFANS HAS A ZERO TOLERANCE FOR PROFANITY

How's that?

If you need profanity to express your opinion, share your opinion elsewhere.
