My oldest just celebrated their 10th birthday, I tied for first in the league in my last season in the 30+ rookie division (now I can't compete in the rookie division), and my mom took her first real international trip after being inspired by my family's vacation

I can identify with a lot of people on this site. I retired back in 2013 after 35 years at Georgia Pacific in
Atlanta. We bought a beach condo and my wife of 39 years passed away unexpectedly 4 months later. But I rebounded and later met a woman in the swimming pool at my condo. She was also a widow and she was with 4 other women and we hit it off. To make a long story short we got married a couple of years later and are celebrating out 10th anniversary later this month. The only issue is we now live in Knoxville. Other than all the orange, Knoxville is a pretty good place to live. We are back at my condo this week. I have been a member on this site for over 25 years and though I don't post much, I love keep up with everything Bama.

Great story. I'm glad you found love again. And I agree, despite the orange, Knoxville is a nice town. My daughter lives there now and we visit them very often and love doing things in the area.

Here's some irony for you with all the orange, there's scattered crimson there too. Last year when my daughter and her husband (who are devoted Bama fans) bought their house, the previous owners were big Bama fans too!!!

All good thoughts. I have long believed that a person cannot be truly happy unless they are truly grateful first. That doesn't mean that we cannot have aspirations, hopes and dreams beyond our current situation. But along the way, we should strive to be grateful for each blessing in our lives as they occur. What you are describing is actually a prescription from ABOVE for the human spirit.

99.9% of the posters on this forum are very loyal and long-time Bama fans, including me. I check this site almost every day!

But I also try to have a proper balance for matters that are "first-order" loyalties. But it does concern me that sometimes I find my priorities out of line with what I truly know should be.

And, I think because Bama football has been so high-functioning for such a long time in our recent run, it is truly hard for some to deal with us not being at the top of the sport. What's even harder is this current reality started before 2024 when the GOAT hung up his coaching hat, but most people aren't willing to see it for what it is. Some posters who were ordinarily very positive have decided our current position in the sport, which is really still at a very, very high place, has fallen to such a low place that they interpret every bit of news about the team in the most negative way possible. For some, the easy way is just to blame it all on CKD as if he is the anti-Saban.

I don't know if CKD will ever win an SEC title or a NC at Bama, but I do know my attitude about Bama won't impact that in the slightest way. It's all out of my hands. But, what I can see as a fan is he's doing a lot of things at a very high level, like CNS (recruiting) and he's doing some things every better than CNS could do toward the end (like hiring better assistant coaches). But for all the good, some can only focus on the anti Saban things like PCs or a few of the lopsided losses.

I choose to believe he'll get those things under control, too. I couldn't care less how he does at PCs, but if he stops the lopsided losses, what's the next thing to be upset about?

Well said, BamaMoon. We should also keep in mind that Coach Saban had a few games where we looked unprepared and struggled with teams we should have beaten easily. And Coach Bryant had teams that laid an egg from time to time. I think it's really hard to keep 19-22 year-old kids focused and performing at their best...especially now with NIL and the transfer portal (free agency).

Coach DeBoer is dealing with something Coach Bryant never faced, and Coach Saban only dealt with the last few years of his tenure. And we all saw the drop-off in toughness and commitment and discipline those last couple of years of the Saban era. But I think Coach DeBoer is smart enough to figure it out and have success as Bama's HC.
