Lifelong Bama Fans....

I have heard for the last few months of several of our recruits being lifelong Bama fans. I am not saying I do not believe these stories, but I do take exception to the fact as to what this means. Most of these kids are 17-18 years old. They are still impressionable. They still can't make good decisions all the time and peer and adult pressure weighs on them heavily. I am speaking from the perspective of a high school teacher and I see this happen everyday. I teach school outside of knoxVILe and most of these kids are Ucheat fans because their parents are UcheaT fans. Me, being a lifelong Bama Fan ( Born and Bread), have caught he77 for the past 12 years since I moved here in 1993. This year was the exception. Not only did I not catch it, but I have noticed that there are a lot more UA's apparell floating around the school since the fortunes of the VILES turned sour this year. My son is 9 and he is working on becoming a Bama fan. He is not sure of all the details that are involved, but he is beginning to understand a little more each day. Especially after our New Years trip to Texas. Although he sports the Crimson attire admirably, he has been under constant pressure from his "buddies" to convert. This is not so bad, except that some of his buddies are family (his mom and his pawpaw). I am trying to imbed the sense of loyalty that I grew up with and it seems to be working. He has met and shook hands with CMS and Kenny Stabler and gotten the autographs of all the players at the A-Day Game. So, I will keep struggling to fight the good fight and maybe, no definitely, things will work out in the end.

So don't look down on these kids that go the other way, they just haven't had the right raisin' and it is probably not their fault that they do not know what being a "LIFELONG BAMA FAN" is all about!
 
:conf3: These kids are not always choosing a college based on who they pulled for growing up. They are impressionable and are choosing pretty much where they feel they have the best chance at playing. I think they make mistakes based on disinformation many times.

Still, without casting stones, I simply can't imagine EVER even considering playing at the barn or ucheat. If I was an athlete, I may consider going a lot of places to investigate the opportunities that are there, but, not those two. A "lifelong Bama fan" playing at UT or the barn, I don't think so; even with their recent success against us the past few years. NO WAY. :conf3:
 
Dear Mods,

Pls start another board for those people who are designated thread/poster english/spelling reviewers. The concept would be that all such people would only post on the new thread by reviewing each others posts and pointing out errors e.g spelling, sentax, agreement, etc.

That way people would feel confortable posting on other boards e.g Football, recuiting where they are just trying to get a conversation/exchange of ideas going w/out fear of "english police".

No offense to anyone intended.
 
I simply don't believe these kids are actually fans, they might have a bama shirt cause they like the color or idolized Derric Thomas or something. Basically if your a true Bama fan and a football player you would of course want to go there, and if it didn't work out because you weren't good enough or because Bama already had players at your position, especially at QB, I would concider other schools in the South. But not the barn, and certainly not Tennessee. But the rest would be ok.

I imagine most true Auburn fans feel the same way and I'm ok with that. I guess I can abide an emeny, I undestand my enemy, I know where they stand. but I can't abide a turncoat.

OK guyz just bekaus our spel chack is brake no need to jump on evrebody when thay mispel a wurd or dont use proper englash.
 
Dear Sir or Madam, You are correct...

I do not teach English. And being in the Appalachia region, I do not get to hear it spoken very eloquently very often. However, I was making a point, and that point had to do with football and not English. I must admit that English was not my strongest suit. Math was. Now, can we get back to my original topic?

Hey, Guys, just trying to do anything to spice up the day before NSD!

In times past, we could get into long discussions about "boobies", or, you know, that could have been "bobbies."

No, I'm pretty sure it was "BOOBIES"!

(Believe me I always wanted to teach but was too greedy. Went the engineering route. Now I don't even get to do that...I just manage people and things. I KNOW YOU HAVE MUCH MORE JOB SATISFACTION THAN I WILL EVER HAVE! Keep up the good work. You are very blessed!)
 
These so called life time BAMA fans are ridiculous! How could you be a life long fan and play somewhere else? Being 17-18 years old is not an excuse. Let me give a example, My son who is a junior baseball player in high school and a pretty good one at that told me once that if Texas and Cal.-State Fulington (two of the premier programs in college baseball) offered him a scholarship along with Bama, and he could play at these two powers within two years or probally not play very little at Bama all four years he would go with the Tide!!!
Why because he is a lifelong Bama Fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
