We have received a lot of emails and phone calls from Alabama fans asking if their Live Sports Radio's will work at the National Championship Game in Pasadena...and the answer is yes! If you are going to the game, bring your radio and tune it to channel E4 to listen to Eli Gold and the Alabama broadcast team.

Have a safe trip and Roll Tide!

InsaneMustang,

I am sorry to hear that you were upset when you heard it the radio is a seasonal purchase. Maybe a little background will help...we have to apply for, and be assigned, a new frequency per stadium per season by the FCC. Once the football schedule has been defined, we apply for the frequencies for each stadium Alabama will be playing in and program the radios accordingly. We typically receive our frequencies in late Spring each year. The good news is that you do not have to purchase a new radio each season. If you would like to have the no delay feature each season, all you have to do is have your radio frequencies updated for $10 (which includes a spare battery). Currently, you can mail it in to our office to have it re-programmed, but we are hoping to offer that service on-site at the first few home games next season to make it more convenient for the fans.

If you have any specific questions please feel free to email me at info@livesportsradio.com and we can discuss the issue further.

Thanks and good luck in the National Championship!

I think my new one cost me $10...or 2 for $20. Just think of it as a soft-drink that will be gone forever in about 5 minutes. It was good for all the games and GA Dome. Now, it's good for the BCS game. Comparatively for what we spend to go to the games, this is the deal of the decade. JMO.

Question not related to NC game:

Will the Alabama radio with ear buds be available for purchase next season? The current radio's maximum volume isn't loud enough for the big
games and I saw one on the LSR site with ear buds.

Thanks and Roll Tide :BigA:

Dennychimes76,

Yes, the TripleTune radio with ear buds will be available for purchase next season. We had a very small quantity available this season, but as you can imagine, we sold our pretty quickly. We will have a full production run ready for sale next season. I would suggest keeping an eye on our web site come summer time, for the release date.

Good luck in the game and thanks for being a Live Sports Radio customer.

Blame it on the FCC for requiring the frequencies be temporary and/or changed for event broadcasts like college football games.

These are reserved frequencies that are pre-programmed into the radio based on the stadiums the games will be at. Not rocket science but not trivial either. So, for LSR, there's two options: 1) require people to either buy a new radio or send theirs in to be re-programmed each year, or 2) engineer the radios so they can be updated by the end user and distribute the new "firmware" each year.

The first option means that you, the end user, pays $10-$15 a year to be able to hear Eli call the play as it happens, as opposed to 5 seconds after it's over. The second option would require more work on their part, more expensive equipment, and more support. That would mean that you'd be making a one time purchase of $50-$100 for a product that might last two to three season before you broke it or lost it.

So, what, you expect them to reprogram them for free? WIth what they have to pay the FCC for every stadium the product works at every season and the extra labor and costs of doing that for free, they'd quickly go out of business if they had to do that. And then you'd have no choice but to listen to the delayed broadcast. Quit whining.

I love the product, and like the earlier poster would absolutely love to have an earbud/headset jack on the product. I'm able to hear it maybe 60%-70% of the game because of the crowd noise. It's great, though, to be able to hear most of the plays and commentary without delay.

Thanks for the response. I did not mean to come off angry, as I am not angry. I was just upset that I got into the game and then realized it :)

I'm a student at UA. I'm really considering buying one next season. For $20, I will be able to listen to every home game plus any road game I decide to go to. I think it's a pretty good deal.

The radios are a ripoff...especially when they are selling them for full price during the last home game of the season. Boy are those fans who purchased their full priced radios in late November going to be upset in September...

Putting the radio on delay for the purposes of selling a radio that broadcasts it properly...its like poisoning someone and then selling them the antidote.

Hi Jeremy,

I apologize about the delayed response to your comment. Just to clarify, we are not responsible for the delay on the broadcast. The delay is typically caused by a combination of HD radio and a profanity delay. As great as HD radio is, it takes much longer to transfer the signal from the booth to your receiver (typically between 5 and 20 seconds). We pay for the right to broadcast the call live and send the signal to out patented radios.

You are welcome to your own opinion about out product, I just want to make sure you understand our product and the service that we offer.

Congratulations on the National Championship! You guys had an incredible season.

Unfortunately, you will only be able to receive our broadcast inside of the stadium on game day. We are not a radio station, so out broadcast radius is very limited.

I am not sure about XM radio. Sorry I can't help you out on that.

Congrats on the big win. Good luck in your quest for a repeat.

Definitely a rip-off! Just like the place I pay to park. I paid last year. They actually expected me to pay again this year for the same parking space I paid for last year! I paid for my tickets last year. I actually had to pay for tickets AGAIN this year. The nerve!

Great product! I love the radio. It worked perfectly in Pasadena.
