I think FSU is a pretty good team. This loss will not look as bad at the end of the season as it does now.

Based on what I saw yesterday, I'd say we're looking at an 8-4 season. Improvement and a little luck gets us to 9-3 and a spot in the playoffs. OTOH, a lack of improvement could result in a 7-5 season, or worse, which would be a disaster.
An interesting question, I think. Is 8-4 or 7-5 good enough to give CKD and staff another year? JMO, 8-4, yes, with a seat so scorching you couldn’t touch it. 7-5? No.

I’ve grown a little more impatient since NIL entered the scenario!
It comes with the territory. It use to be greater patience was exercised because, well, the perception was these were students playing for the love of the game. With teams flipping rosters by 50% or more each year via transfers, it is about the love of the NIL. Thus, the shift from an extracurricular activity for a student to a “job” for a contractor.

Since there is not much I can do about it, I will just watch and bear it.
There is almost nothing I as a fan can do about the state of the program, but if the FSU game was an indicator, we are headed for Shula-esque levels of frustration, at least until the end of the 2026 season.
At a certain point, high quality players will start to jump ship rather than go down with the captain, and when that happens, Bama will face SEC opponents while Bama players are poorly disciplined, poorly motivated, and less talented.
Or, alternatively, the team leaders could start to grab their teammates by the facemask and make them do things the right way.
The choice is entirely theirs. I'm just on the outside, looking in.

Y'all both nailed it on the head, this isn't the football we're used too at Bama, when player's played for pride & prides themselves for pride of the University..

Honestly they don't care if we lose, they're still getting paid, maybe those paychecks should reflect a loss & deduct from their NIL after a loss..

If playing for pride is out the window..

So should the the NIL money with every loss..Something has too change regarding a player's performance on the field of play & base NIL off wins or losses for motivation..

Shula inherited the keys to a Toyota and DeBoer inherited the keys to a Rolls Royce. Two different sets of circumstances if CKD doesn’t get this figured out!

I agree 100% with you, but the way the contract is structured (90% of salary even if fired), Coach Deboer is going to coach in Tuscaloosa until the end of 2026 (barring a 2-10 collapse this year)

Skin in the game, so as it were? Sounds good to me. Used to be, playing football for Alabama and striving for championships was an end unto itself. Now it is simply a means to an end.

Sad thing is i can realistically see that happening this year, if the team puts in the effort they did Saturday.

Nailed it, MLH!

FSU will probably be in the ACC title game and won't really hurt our resume...if we improve out tackling and accuracy issues.

What we saw Saturday is what we will see in afternoon if we don't improve.

I consider myself a very optimistic fan. For argument's sake, let's say that Saturday was a complete anomaly and we right the ship immediately. We play well the next two weeks, get a week off before UGA and Jam and Keenan are back for that game. We go into Athens and win.

We would be 3-1 and have a killer schedule remaining that we probably drop at least one or two more games along the way. At best, we are 10-2 and maybe have a shot at going to the SECCG, or we are back to 9-3.

Even if this were to play out, the problem I see is we have that 14 point FSU loss on our resume. Now we are being compared to other 10-2 or 9-3 ACC teams, and that loss, I'm afraid, is going to haunt us all year in a best case scenario. Therefore, I think we almost have to win the conference to make the playoffs this year.
I would have to say that 8-4 is our ceiling; hope I am wrong. We are now 4-5 in our last 9 power 5 games. No improvement in sight.

Yup..With this schedule this, if we don't play any better & coach better, the SEC is going too eat us up & spit us out this like a bad loogie..

It's the type schedule where the wheels can start falling off in hurry unfortunately..

Im just hoping FSU is just that good & played with a chip on their shoulders..If this wasn't a wake up call for our players..It could go south in a huryyyyyy..

FSU will be tough defensively all year. But their offense is very average. We have serious issues in our front 7 folks...
That’s why I don’t buy the “247 most talented team in college football” crap. I don’t doubt that we have the 5- and 4-star players according to someone’s rating system. But that doesn’t override what I can see with my own eyes. I haven’t seen anything on that DL that compares with Jonathan Allen, Quinnen Williams, A’Shawn Robinson, Daron Payne, Dalvin Tomlinson, Da’Shawn Hand, Jarran Reed, Christian Barmore, and on and on.

Prove me wrong.
