Bowled in our scratch league tonight and when I show up, my opponent is dressed head to toe in Texas Longhorn gear. Kind of rare in central Alabama, but I live in a military town.

Our scores (mine listed first): 227-191, 256-229, 181-192 (664-612), which gave me 3 out of 4 possible points.

And yes, I was wearing a UA polo while competing.

Jess - was he really a Texas fan, or an Aubie dressed as a TX fan, since he knew you would probably wear Bama clothes:)

Or it could be just one of those MANY people across this country that wears Texas gear because it looks "cool". They love the logo more than the team.

I'm so glad you posted this because I live in a very rural part of southern/middle tennessee and I see lots of kids wearing Texas hats NOT because of the team, but for the logo! The ones who don't wear UT orange are wearing Texas orange. Ughhhhhhh :( Roll TIDE!

People like that might not even know who the head coach is. I'm just glad Alabama isn't like Texas, USC, or ND in that there are a lot of folks wearing gear, but aren't fans. You can be dang sure that 99% of the people wearing Bama stuff will know what to say back when you say, "Roll Tide".

Here's my omen. Colt McCoy's winning lots of awards, Davy O'Brien, Maxwell, maybe the Heisman. I say let him win them all, and then maybe we will do to him what we did to Gino Toretta back in 92. If I recall correctly, Gino won the Heisman that year.

I too had a good omen for the game. On one of my exams, I had to find the horizontal distance from a total station on a hill to a pier at the bottom. It ended up being 1322 ft. :biggrin2:

LOL. That is awesome. I wonder if the prof did that on purpose. Either way, that is awesome.

I want to find a news article that says that an elephant escaped from the zoo, entered a pasture and then continually ran over a colt and stomped on a longhorn for three and a half hours.

That's an omen.

Here's my omens:

Hadn't won in JH - done

Hadn't had back to back 10-0 seasons - done

Hadn't won an SEC championship at Bama - done

Hadn't won an NC championship at Bama --- To be determined.
Like the odds though!

(I know, there are a lot more but you get the point) Wait ---these are destiny.

scratch meaning 9 pins = X
Scratch means no adjusted handicap. The term you're looking for is "no-tap," where getting 9 equals a strike. That wasn't what we were doing. Have to drop all 10 in this league to get a strike.

I average 216 in that league and my opponent in question averages a bit higher, around 220.

Last game, I get four splits in the first six frames. The oil started breaking down in the heads, as it always does, but it was more abrupt than usual and threw everyone for a loop. I was sitting on 72 in the 6th, meaning my max score from that point out was 192. I got it to 181, good enough to salvage the series score, especially since he was struggling with transition as well.

By the way, my team -- two UA fans and a South Carolina fan -- won the entire match 16 points to 4.
