ESPN: Michigan gets permission to talk to Miles

ESPN Radio ran a story a few minutes ago that the Michigan AD asked LSU for permission to talk to Les Miles about the UM coaching job and that LSU granted permission, if UM would wait until after the SEC Championship Game. The report said that Michigan accepted that condition.

The Michigan boards seem to think Miles will take the job after the SECCG. Might be rumor i dont know but things are getting interesting. Tubs may have two easy outs.

LOL,

One of my friends was reading the Auburn boards and some guy posted "Saban to go back to LSU when Miles goes to Michigan.". The guy acted like that Saban's wife wanted to go back to LSU (I think the proper words were "she wanted her old house back"). Of course, my friend and I started spectulating...but interestingly enough it must have been total crap because the post got deleted....

I still think this is a big mistake on Michigan's part. I don't think Miles is a great coach and I think they are settling because he is a popular choice with the fans and he has Michigan ties.

But he'd be crazy not to take their money!

I'm hoping he will stay at LSU.I don't think he's that great a coach, and given enough time will prove that out. Besides, I'm afraid if he does leave, Spurrier could be offered and I'd much rather have Miles in the west div than the ole ball coach.

I think Miles should take it...Really, think about it...to get the dream job in a place where you had some of your best moments of your life (meeting his wife and going to college...etc). I have always thought Miles won on the talent at LSU but for Michigan...if he works out...they got a coach for many years because he won't go anywhere.

It's pretty much a well known fact in Baton Rouge that Miles will be Michigan's head coach on Monday or Tuesday of next week ...

However, as far as his replacement, there's quite a bit going on behind the scenes at LSU in these last few days. It's going to be very interesting to keep an eye on, not only for LSU fans but also for some other SEC fans. There are two candidates right now, one that covets the job but is not coveted by a influential group of "LSU power players" and one that says he is not interested in leaving his current situation. The one that is not interested, however, is the one that is wanted by the ultimate decision-maker at LSU who is continuing to attempt to persuade.

Personally, I say to hell with them both ... I like Boise State's Chris Peterson.

Can't blame Miles, it's his alma mater, met his wife there, big time program.

I hope if he does go, we get someone up and coming. Spurrier is one of the greatest but I don't think he's interested. He's said he wants to try and win where it's never been done before. He's had two great recruiting classes, and I don't think he wants to leave without succeeding.

Lots of bull coming out right now as far as new coach. RR ain't coming, he's got a chance to play for a NC at his alma mater, why come here, we played nine bowl eligible teams this year. If he didn't go to bama no reason for him to come here a year later.

I'd like to see an up and comer, Like the coach at Boise St.

Ought to be an interesting couple of weeks.

This is a done deal.

U's don't ask other U's to talk with coaches unless agents have already blessed deals. It's the final nail in the coffin. If I recall correctly, A&M asked to talk with Franchione on Wednesday and he was announced in College Station as the new head coach less than 24 hours later.

Plus, this is a true "Mama called" moment. Good luck to Coach Miles. May we see you in a BCS CG sometime soon.

I think that LSU program is in "auto drive". It recruits itself...You guys should be fine with any above average coach. The BSU coach would be a solid pick...

whatever is decided, i like les miles, i have questioned some of his coaching, but, its easier to do that while in front of the tv with a beer in my hand. i think the guy is a person of character and if mama is calling i completely understand if he does leave and wish him all the best. i think he has been honest with the fans, has not denied anything and has talked of michigan with fond memories and a twinkle in his eye.
