LSU at AUBURN

LSU isn't near as good as they were last year and our SOS is taking hits every week. Bama, Oregon and FSU only teams looking like they're top five worthy today and quite a bit of separation between BAMA and the other two, imho.

Lol at LSU fans thinking Mettingberger is above average qb, and that the barn is actually a decent team. This is what I'm reading on their rant board...

That's a laugh. As I've posted over and over, if he were all that, he would have started over those two losers they had last year. He didn't and we now see why. I can understand LSU fans believing he was the second coming, but I was puzzled at all the talking heads who were agreeing with them. I wonder how they feel now. Some had him rated above AJ...

I agree....wasn't impressed AT ALL with LSU...Mettenberger is a statue back there, get him to move and he falls over his own feet.

I also noticed tonight...and couldn't stop watching for it....like watching a car wreck in slow motion...when Cheeznips chews his gum or whatever he has in his mouth, every 3rd or 4th chomp he rolls his tongue outside his mouth...appropriate for a cow college coach I suppose.

All ruminants do that... :D

mediots, I could care less, but there were some Bama fans who actually thought he was very good QB!!
BASED ON WHAT??????????????

They had the camera on Mettenbergers face for a good 10 seconds on the sidelines one point in the game. He was staring blankly straight ahead with his eyes half shut. My immediate reaction was that he looked stoned. Might be just they way he looks though.

Agree on SOS being damaged. W. Kentucky is the only one helping us on SOS. They beat Southern Miss today 42 to 17.
:)

Yeah, now we know why Miles liked JJ. Mett looks almost awkward back there at times although he throws a decent deep pass I guess. He might get better but right now he's got a long way to go. Overall not impressed with LSU at all, their defense looks to have a taken a step backwards which I didn't expect and the whole team plays undisciplined. They might miss Mathieu more than I thought too.
Barn is awful and LSU had to depend on Frasier to lose the game rather than LSU winning it.
As for the barn, to me, this was the type of game Tuberville would have won. They had LSU on the ropes at times, outplayed them, and couldn't capitalize.

I thought the same thing about both of the Missou q'backs. The both looked like they were playing in slow motion and their feet were in cold honey. No extra effort such as carrying out a fake either. I thought it was just the starter until they put the other guy in and he played with identical tendencies.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I figure this is just another one of those games where two teams were in different places. LSU thought this one would be a cake walk while abarn was playing to maintain a shred of dignity. LSU is probably better than they looked tonight while abarn probably isn't as good. LSU doesn't look as strong as last year, but I doubt they're as weak as they looked tonight.

From lurking on several LSU boards it seems a lot of them think the loss of their LT is having a bigger impact than they thought. The dude that replaced him is getting ate up by the speed rush. Also, it seems many of them are coming down to earth about the "savior" Mettenberger. I agree with you that they might not be as bad as they looked tonight but there's no way this team is as good as last years. No.Way.

Thos +1. I wouldn't be surprised to find a much different LSU at BR at home at night

Being chewed up by Auburn's defense, no matter how lackadaisically you may be taking the game is very revealing. Just remember how MSU's offense looked against AU, and LSU only musters one TD and couple of FGs. Right now, LSU looks like more of a pretender than a contender...

I agree 100%. They aren't even close right now and whether or not they can improve is yet to be seen. Week to week improvement is crucial. Last year we got stronger as the year went along while LSU started strong, but remained flat. They are more undisciplined than usual also. Although BAMA had more penalties the first few games than I'm used to seeing as well.

Bad LSU coaching. That LT should have had help from TE or a running back. Plus the penalties...my word CNS would have had a vessel burst in his brain.

There's a drop off in the secondary from last year to this year. The loss of their LT is killing the consistency of their OL. They'll block good on two plays then look like crap for three. Their WR's drop A LOT of balls. Mettenberger to this point looks average....at best. And that's being kind. Plus, this isn't the same team as last year's team. It doesn't have the same chemistry. You can tell it. But I want to see them play Florida, aTm and USCe before I rubber stamp them a pretender. But right now all signs are pointing to that.

I agree that the jury's still out - barely. I'm basically disappointed in the entire SEC, with the possible exceptions of UF and USCe. I'm not ready to put UGA in that group, yet...
