I have a few buddies who are somewhat "mid level pecking order" when it comes to donors to LSU. They get some pretty decent inside info. According to them, Les will get a chance to "redeem himself" up to and including the Bama game. He fails both of those and he's gone during the season. He fails one of those and it will be after the season. Tom Herman has become a very popular name among a lot of donors in the LSU circles. Should be fun to see how this plays out.

I have done work at LSU STADIUM, & LOUISIANA SUPERDOME What you are hearing is correct !!!! Les better make noise fast !!! One of the guy's told me it is almost mirror image of when dubose was here in 1999-2000

Yeah, but what about Jon Gruden?

LSU's problem is they think they are Alabama by association.

Unless LSU throws an obscene amount of money to Herman, why would he leave Houston? Yeah I get the recruiting of LSU but from what I hear, Houston may be a better situation in recruiting.

Just looking at their talent and recruiting base, it's not unfathomable they could lure a pretty good coach. I think it would be night and day between them and say auburn who are more impatient and have no where near the recruiting base as LSU.

The right coach could start winning right away. The biggest problem is most fans will not be happy unless they have a better or at least a 50/50 record against Alabama. Ole Miss Arky and Auburn all seem to be able to beat LSU more regular than fans of theirs want to admit. If UF starts beating them on the regular we will still hear how they play a much tougher schedule due to the SEC office location.

I hope they find another Curley Hallman. That would be terrific.

I tend to agree, but know that it really depends on where he wants to end up. Houston is a stepping stone job, but LSU isn't.

I sometimes wonder if Sumlin had to do it over again, does he wish he'd stayed at Houston. The pressure of playing in the SEC west and going head to head with SAban year in and out.
Herman is more of a Midwest guy. I kind of think he will wait for a big 12 gig but like you said it depends on what's in his vision for himself.

I think that he would have returned to LSU instead of going to Alabama had that job been open. Remember, he loved Baton Rouge while he was there and had a great deal of success there.
