LSU fans think Saban is coming back when miles leaves

I've reached the conclusion that the majority of lswho fans are morons. Its not just that board either. There are a select few fans that have posted on our board here that are the exception to that, but not many.

Why on earth would he (Coach Saban) want to return to that cesspool of a fanbase that was throwing darts at his picture and cursing him, just a few days ago. And for less money too? What idiots.

Coach Saban has found a home here. His family likes it here from what I've heard. At BAMA he will have an opportunity to reach even greater heights than what he did at lswho if given the time to do so, and he will. I believe BAMA fans and admin are more than willing to give him time & whatever it takes to achieve that greatness again. We've been there before and will be again. Roll Tide!

The reasons for CNS appearing emotional is he feels truly sorry for the players he recruited having to play for such an inadequate coaching staff and the fact that he knows he could go undefeated and win a national championship with that team. He feels sorry for LSU having to endure Les and company. There is obviously less discipline, football-wise, on that team as they are the most penalized team in the SEC. Their staff chooses to attempt a cute play and draw us offsides on a 4th and inches when we haven't stopped Hester short of a 4 yard gain the entire night, and their other back averaged 8 yards per carry on 3 carries.

Here's the thing LSU fans need to realize; he has feelings for the players that he recruited. That's totally normal and I don't blame him. He has feelings for those players and not LSU. Heck, he even hinted at Nick at Noon that through the harsh words from LSU fans, he's done with any emotions he had.
I saw a clip last night on Fox 6 out of Birmingham - I'm not really sure what the question was but Saban said "I'm the Coach AT ALabama, NOT LSU! I am here and I am going to do a great job" or words to that effect. Made me very happy!!!

I am still hurting over this loss but as I told my hubby, last year, it would have been over after the 1st quarter!! The future is looking so bright!!!!! Now, let's take care of some bulldogs!!!!!

First of all forget Coach Saban in this discussion for a minute. NO COACH, will leave a school after one year when he was at one place 5 years, left went to another place for 2 and then is at yet a third for 1. They would have absolutely ZERO ability to recruit. I don't care how good a coach is, if his word isn't good he can't recruit. LSU fans seem to be forgetting the fact that Coach Saban isn't going anywhere or his word isn't worth crap. Sure, he would have loved to have had hind site and never left, but the fact is that he did and he now likes being at Bama. As I said in my post yesterday, if he ever entertained the thought of going back to LSU, it was gone the minute he and Terry saw the way the fans treated him. Those shirts Saban Bleauxs and such were seen by all and those fans speak for the masses. Even if they were lying, which they were. They are stuck with mediocrity and undiciplined football teams. I highly doubt that Michigan would even hire Miles, so they are stuck with becoming a 2nd thought.

LSU fans and the world have now seen what Saban can do with good but not great players in MOST positions. In 2 more years, all of the SEC will be coming through Tuscaloosa for a chance to beat the best and they'll lose.

Two words: Dennis. Franchione.

See what's happened to him at aTm for look into the future of a coach who jumps all over the place.

I think Saban is a wee bit smarter than Franchione. ;)

That fourth and inches call got me thinking. I'm sure Miles was involved in a fourth down call, but I suspect that Miles replacement assistants aren't as good as the ones Saban left. LSU fans may have complained about Jimbo Fisher, but I think he's better than the current guy. What happens to that team if Miles stays and Pellini takes another job? That's where I think you will begin to see the decline of LSU, it will be gradual but it will occur and will carry over to other areas such as recruiting. I think that's an often over-looked talent of Saban, choosing good assitant coaches.

I think the funniest thing is that LSU somehow got it through their thick skulls that they were 'entitled' to Nick Saban and can't see why he'd leave the swamps. Stewart Mandel has come up with a name to call teams that have the notion they are national powers. He calls it 'Clemson-Ole Miss Syndrome.'

This is the notion that because you won a national title at one point in time, you somehow are considered a national power at all times despite being lousy for years. LSU didn't beat Alabama at all from 1971-1981.

From their national championship in 1959, they won the SEC four times (and two of those were shared titles: 1961 with us and 1988 with Auburn). Even Ole Miss managed to win it three during the same time frame. Georgia, who is hardly considered a national power, won six during the same era. Hell, even perennial also-ran Kentucky managed to win two.

(And for the Tide fans who will chastise me, Alabama won THIRTEEN to go with six national titles during LSU's 'reign of dominance').

And look at LSU between 1989-1999 just before Saban arrived. 58 wins, 64 losses, zero SEC titles, and three bowl game wins. Heck, I'd point out that nearly HALF of those wins came from ONE recruiting class of DiNardo. They even had three head coaches prior to Saban.

Alabama in the decade before Saban? 67 wins, 57 losses, one SEC title, two bowl wins and - brace yourselves - FOUR head coaches and - and this is critical - TWO probations.

I would add something else: who exactly does LSU have to compete with for their homegrown talent? Nobody. We had all of the prior garbage I pointed out plus the fact that we have a team within the state that has been ranked almost every year including an unbeaten season in 2004.

So Bama did better ten years before the hire with a lot more distractions. THAT is what you call having character and it's been a painful decade.

I think the LSU fans see the writing on the wall. When we hired Saban, I called my brother-in-law who's an LSU alum - he was silent for thirty seconds (I broke the news to him).

Here we come, boys!!

Someone here compared LSU fans to new money recently. I think they hit the nail on the head. LSU fans just don't know how to handle success. I guess not having much history of it shows. Really sad when you think about it.

Low G2 and a fast rise usually doesn't end well.

I believe those that predict the rapid downfall of LSU football are a bit ahead of yourselves. Miles may not be as driven as Saban, but he's a pretty good coach and continues to recruit well in Louisiana. Unless Miles leaves and LSU fails to land a top coach I believe LSU will continue to be successful for years to come.

Personally, I'd rather have LSU strong and being Bama's primary competition in the West than any other West team. The bottom line is that even if UA becomes a dominant power in the SEC, we will still have stiff competition from some teams. There is just too much talent in the south east for all of the other SEC teams to be weak. So, if there is to be one other SEC West team that provides stiff competition year in and year out who would you like it to be? Would you prefer that it be LSU, AU, Piggies, or one of the Mississippi schools.

Outstanding post! Yessir, I agree! Get ready! Maybe we should just start a post titled something like 1001 Reasons Why Bama Beat Us or something.....we could just let it run until we dominate every stinking one of 'em again! :)

It's a mistake to imagine that a Bart-Simpson type poster on a notorious rant board like Tiger Droppings reflects the opinions of Tiger fans as a whole. Coaches don't return to former schools and schools do not offer jobs to former coaches. It just doesn't happen.

LSU doesn't even have a job opening.

What bothers the LSU fans the most is the FEAR is that Pelini or whoever they hire once Miles does leave will turn out to be the next Mike Archer or Curley Hallman and their program will go back to being like it was in the 80's and 90's. Not necessarily a rational fear, given LSU's attractiveness nationally these days and the resources they have, but a real fear nonetheless.

If given the chance, they'd turn back to Coach Saban in a heartbeat but I'm also sure he'd never go back.
