I doubt the Bengals trade the #1 pick. I'd bet anyone trading up for a QB will trade with the Lions
The Bengals have a lot of issues -- and they have the ability to get way more value for that pick if they were to trade it -- and generate multiple Round 1 picks --

Getting a QB and no surrounding parts is not a great way to fix this team....

Especially since Burrow hasn't displayed the ability to do it for longer than one year..... yet

I disagree - The only position that has to be locked down is QB. If you have a shot at what you consider to be a "can't miss" franchise QB, you can't trade. If Cincy trades that pick it will be because they are not sold on Burrow, not because they need more than a QB. And, frankly, if they are not sold on Burrow they will never be sold on a QB.

I would encourage Joe Burrow to pull an Eli Manning and John Elway and refuse to go that organization. People crushed the Mannings in the media for it. But at the end of their careers, Eli is walking away with 2 superbowl rings and Rivers empty handed.
Elway's situation was a lot different in that he had just signed with the Yankees and was in a position of power. Eli really made a gamble that just happened to payoff. The Chargers could've just been real jerks and got a lot of compensation picks, and another #1 overall pick by not playing him.

Joe Burrow will be a Bengal, and its too early to say whether or not that is a bad thing. They have had two straight years of drafting OL (to include Jonah Williams) in the 1st round. A lot of their lack of success has been due to Marvin Lewis era decisions, AJ Green having a season ending injury before the season last year, and Dalton just regressing.

I think Burrow could be the guy they just build a franchise around, and I doubt there are any crazy crap from Burrow since he is from Ohio.

LOL...I called it in the game thread the other night. Coach O might fall quicker than Cheeze Nip fell after his Scampionship.

So many similarities...except I think Gene is actually a better coach! Coach O is more like the OM coach he was than last year at LSU and everybody knows it.

Interesting stat on Burrow though as far as the "can't miss" label goes.

As charted by Lance Zierlein (NFL Network draft guy), Burrow was 21 of 43 for 333 yards 5TDs and 4INTs on "intermediate throws outside the numbers" in 2019. Those are pretty important NFL throws. Just goes to show how hard it is to draft a QB.

Hindsight is clear -- but two years ago Baker Mayfield was going to take the Browns to the promiseland....

This feels like the same thing......

College QB, in a system that exploits the defense, multiple weapons, accurate passes......passable arm.....

Sure feels like the same thing to me..... we shall see.....

I hear what you're saying, and readily acknowledge I'm no expert nor does anyone care about my opinion. But I have never bought the Baker Mayfield hype. He never did half of what we saw Burrow do this year.

Still, I was flabbergasted when the Chiefs drafted Mahonnes so there's that.

Brown still has a chance to do great things with Mayfield. I believe he regressed because of the coaching. Bengals isn't a bad spot for Burrow to land and wait a year or two.

I won't be shocked if Panthers made a trade with Bengal just to get Burrow.... Especially when Newton future in Panthers land is uncertain

From #8 to #1 is going to be a hell of a cost that I don't think Carolina would be willing to risk. At minimum you are talking about 2 1st round picks, probably Cam Newton, and a few 2nd and 3rd round picks. Trading away the #1 overall pick has to be viewed as something that you got a King's ransom of a deal to give up. I can see Carolina going to #5 to get Tua, but going to #1 to get Burrow is going to be too rich imo

By the NFL's standards, when Mayfield came into the league they didn't consider him anywhere on the level that they currently view Burrow. Burrow checks dang near all the boxes on their checklist. Mayfield did not. Mayfield/Burrow is a very bad comparison.

This is fair. And see the above stat I posted as to why there should be questions about Burrow.

But I think the point is that if the Bengals think Burrow is a franchise QB they have to take him because Franchise QB >>>> all other players by a good margin.

I don't keep up with the NFL much, but doesn't Miami have 3 first round picks? Everyone assumes they will get Tua. If so, do they need a wide receiver? Would be neat to have Tua throw to Jerry Jeudy. :)

LSU will still be good... way to many good athletes for a big falloff.
