sure, there are some things that need working on, but I enjoyed the game today. GMac is very smart and will get the wrinkles ironed out. Ingram is taking up the space left by Coffee and then some. Our O-line just has not missed a beat. And for those that were worried about our defense, you can breathe now. I'm not saying no team out there can't beat us right now, but they better bring a lunch.;)

My only complaint is that I saw GMac on his backside WAY too many times with Preston Dial standing there watching it happen instead of keeping it from happening.

I wish we would have given the ball more to Mark in the red zone.

Totally agree! I thought we would have done some more pounding the ball in the red zone, especially when we had first and goals at the two and the five yard lines. Instead we tried some cutesy passing. Now Colin Peek did drop a potential TD pass, but overall, I thought we would have gone with the Cody led power running down there.

playcalling was horrible today. give the ball to ingram, richardson, upchurch, and grant. run the ball when the pass isn't working; it's not like we are short on running backs. i like to see us pass just as much as anyone else, but when it isnt working, just run the ball. we can keep fresh legs in EVERY play. then when they are looking for the run, hit hanks deep. i think we tried to force the pass TOO much today. i did not even realize ingram ran as much as he did until i looked at the stats.

I had to double check the score to make sure we won the game. 22-3 usually doesn't come with a laundry list of complaints.
Yeah, a little too much nitpicking IMHO. We won the game very easily (over a good but not great team, on the road). All in all I'm pretty happy! On to the next! :cool2:

Everyone, please give Coach Saban a little credit. Last week we show everyone the "fake" punt..........this week we show a fake punt...... guess what USCE has to prep for next week a bit more?

Up until this game......when we got inside the 5.......we went JUMBO......

This week we went JULIO........

Guess what USCE now has to prep for this week a bit more?

Now USCE is there going.....they are going to FORCE the ball to Julio.....we need to double and maybe triple team him..........

I think it was part of a longer term strategy.....AND it showed Julio we are wanting to get him the ball......

And in Julio's defense, had they wanted to call 4 or 5 pass interference penalites, they could have. The REFs didn't read about that specific penalty in their rulebook apparently.......

I thought about that too, BUT they didn't call it both ways. I was ok with the non-calls. On most of them, Julio still got his hands on the ball.

We would be complaining a lot less if our receivers had caught the ball in the end zone. I didn't have a problem with the play calling, but we just didn't execute. You need to throw the ball in the endzone from time to time to spread the defense.

I love comments like this.

The Titanic wouldn't have sunk if it hadn't hit that iceberg.
That house wouldn't have burned down if it hadn't caught on fire.
I'd have a lot more money if I would've picked the right numbers in the lottery.

I think they went to Julio so much because they saw an advantage in that matchup. Even when he was double teamed you could tell they were no match for how high JJ could jump. GMAC has looked like a heisman quality QB fow a few weeks but he has struggled slightly in the last two. Of course, give props to the defenses of Kentucky and Ol Miss. I think they BOTH played admirably.

Also, Colin dropping that pass in the endzone would have been one heck of a catch, spinning around, falling out of bounds. I ain't mad at him for that one.

My comments are in reference to the folks complaining about play calling in the red zone.

I'm not playing the "what if" game as you are implying. I had no problem with the play calling in the red zone, the ball hit the receivers in the hands, that's the difference between TDs and FGs.

We ran the ball in the red zone and didn't score TDs and we threw the ball in the red zone and didn't score TDs. No "ifs" about that, but I'm not the one complaining about play calling.

"If" we ban the word "if" then it will certainly cut down on posts around here. ;)

:BigA:Calm down aiiight!!! We need to remember that we dominated a very good Ole Miss team. The stadium was electric in the beginning and the Ole Miss people were betting everything on this game. Over 63,000 at their stadium was an attendance record for them. So there was no doubt that they were up for the game. I have never heard such a dejected group as my Ole Miss fans after the loss. We reminded them that they are still not in our class. Ole Miss will still beat Ar-Kansas, LSWho, and the barn.

They do have a VERY good defense and we were very close to hanging 40 plus points on them. 5 times in the red zone and zero touchdowns? How many times will Julio get his hands on a ball in the end zone and not come away with a TD.

Also for all you math majors, the reason I say 40 plus points, potential 5 offensive touchdowns and Kareem Jackson going all the way if Reamer turns around and makes 1 block.:BigA:

Easy coach....G Mc admitted himself that he was confused at times with the Ole Miss coverage disguises and sometimes went to the wrong receiver. If he goes to the correct read, then what?....great play calling? I'm sorry, football at this level is not a simple as you wish to make it.
