What you said. You could very well be right, TR could feasibly hang on to the #1 back position with MI as his back-up whenever he returns (reversed rolls). Not to mention all of the talk and hype around Lacy during the past couple of years. If TR and EL live up to their hype and potential, is out of the realm of possibility that MI could end up third on the RB depth chart? Not a prediction. Just a hypothetical "what if" scenario.
I think it's safe to say that Mark is guaranteed at least the number two spot when he comes back. I could see Richardson taking the first spot; if Lacey is good enough take the number two spot I'd say the rest of the nation is in trouble. We wouldn't get less than five yards on any given play.

I think Ingram will be the top RB when he returns as long as he's 100%. There's a reason he was the starter last year. All things being equal, I still think he's our best RB...probably the best RB in the nation. I'm just glad we have someone as good as Richardson to step in when our starter isn't available.

Agreed. TR and EL are probably going to be good, but that experience, knowledge, and leadhership that MI brought can't be replaced on the field overnight. Here's hoping to a full and speedy recovery for MI however long it takes. RTR!!

You might have been thinking of Lane Bearden, punting with that leg injury he had and making bone jarring tackles on a bad leg.
That may be it, I'd certainly forgotten about that until now. I always thought that was a great testament to his toughness, to continue playing and making tackles with that injury. Of course punting is probably quite a bit different than playing RB and trying to make cuts on a bad knee.

Hopfully Mark will have a quick and full recovery. However, I think we may have just sealed the deal on whether he returns next year or not. Just as with Hightower. An injury will put lots of concerns any anyones thought process. Much less a 21 year old.

It's not comparable at all. Lane's kicking with no ACL caused unimaginable agony. I've had the injury and I cannot even grasp the pain he went through. Remember his limping off the field after every kick? He's said since that he wanted to quit but fRan kept the pressure on him to perform.

I've also played basketball with a torn meniscus. It's child's play compared to the ACL...

When the ticker went across the TV screen, for the first instant, I only saw the 1st part of the sentence, "Mark Ingram out for the season opener against SJSU..." Yikes!

Experience will be missed at the RB position. Was really looking forward to seeing him play against PSU.

I hate this happened to Mark and hope he recovers to 100% before he gets back on the field, for his sake.

I would be surprised if he played against PSU myself, but i'm no doctor.

Get well soon Mark.

Almost certainly a torn meniscus. I've had three scopes. The first two, I was back playing basket ball in three weeks. The last one, and most serious injury, was this spring. I'm back at about 90%, but my recovery was a lot slower. (I'm sure age has something to do with it also.)
Earle, I like it when some folks hear "scope" and assume it's not that big a deal.

It's not major surgery but tell that to whatever joint just underwent it. You know a little about that..

Of course an athlete with access to 24/7 treatment should recover quickly, it's still no walk in the park.

I love the fact Dr Andrews & Dr Cain are our team Orthopaedic Physicians under Coach Saban..Our players are in the hands of the best in the business..

(Dr's Andrews & Cain are the best. They've put me back together a couple of times.)

Get well soon Mark!

Ask around in the SEC and see if any team is looking forward to seeing more of Trent. (Not by a long shot) It seemed that no teams Defense got a breather when Mark was on the sideline.
If anything Trent ran like he had something to prove.
Trent 'Earned his Bones' early on last year. Now it seems that Lacy
has a chance to do the same...
We are in good hands.
Next Saturday: Mark Ingram will be on the sideline as an extra set of RB eyes. He will help watch the Defense to see if he can help Trent and Lacy.
If GM can have a couple of great games and we don't have a bunch of drops, there will be less pressure on our Running Backs.

I had a scope about 20 years ago and they put my left leg in a cast. Of course that was 20 years ago but it sure hurt before the surgery.

As far as I've read in official releases/statement from the university and the athletic department, the details of the injury have not been made public. This is protected health information so do not post things like "my friend's friend is a nurse who took care of him and she says it was _____." I will delete posts that give the appearance of passing along medical information that has not been officially released by Mark Ingram and the university.

Consider yourselves warned.

If you want to speculate, as has already been done throughout this thread, that's fine, as it is not releasing protected health information.

I didn't figure it would last.

I'll put it this way, I'll bet my next year's worth of pay checks that it's a very minor tear to the meniscus and MI should be back by the Arkansas game at the latest.

I think some people do not realize how well stacked we are at RB. Experience is one thing but 2008 MI was the back up to Coffee and when Coffee left we did not miss a beat. Also MI was rated as the number 17 ATH in the country not a RB by Rivals the same service that rated TR the number 2 RB in the country and EL the number 13. Even Scout listed MI as the 58th best RB in the country.

Do I want MI in the backfield this year, you can bet on it. Will our season be lost without him no way. To put it simple we are loaded at RB, The Heisman watch list was released today on ESPN and in the comments they stated that if TR was on any other team in the country he would be on that list.

I hope MI a fast and speedy recovery but with or without him our running game will still be our bread and butter and teams still wont stop it.

BTW a few years back at the young age of 35 I had my knee scoped and I am in decent shape. I walked out of the hospital on my own without crutches and was back to work in a few days. Within a month I forgot I had the surgery. So if that is what MI had done he will be back at the latest Ark, because we do not need him for Duke.
