The way you are all describing the way we'll use him is exactly how Im expecting we want to use Burton Scott.

I think they'll give Maze a chance at receiver and special teams, and maybe use him in some trick plays. Because I think Burton is the Percy Harvin type here playing a bit of RB and slot.
I'll try a better fit for MM. Trindan Holliday for LSU. Short stature but who can fly. I still think MM can be used in the slot (along with Scott) like Percy. BJS is already bigger than Harvin was, but they are extremely similar in the athleticism they bring to the field. Scott's size though will allow him to excel on either side of the ball.

MM's lack of size will keep him limited to the return game and specialty sets.

Fun thought: I imagine if they both line up at the same time, some defenses will be really worried about matchup problems. Speed kills.

Imagine this setup for a play:

Agent Uno (BJ Scott) lines up at QB in the shotgun with Terry Grant to one side in the backfield. Jonathan Lowe is in the slot with Marquis Maze split wide. Bring Maze in motion behind the QB and snap the ball (think the David Palmer pitchback play). Give the ball to any of these guys or let BJ keep it...

If you're the defense, who to you focus on? I'm sure my offensive formation leaves a bit to be disired... feel free to modify. Add Julio wide on the other side and potentially throw a pass to him or run a reverse of something. Put Arenas in there somewhere... I'm convinced he needs to be on the offensive side of the ball (not the defensive side). Good grief, that's scary.

the good thing is that we're getting to a point where we can just keep throwing fresh weapons at opposing defenses. Sit a guy for a breather and the back-up can hurt you just as bad. When we get to that point on defense as well, we'll be fully loaded.

With all the "hype" surrounding this year's class, it's easy to forget how good last year's class really was. There are some real athletes in the mix at the Capstone right now. I think we are gonna see a ton of screens next year to get the ball in these guys' hands quickly and let them work their magic.
