Mathew Goodson question

This guy was the Class 6A hitter of the year last year. He can apparently hit. Does anyone know why, on a team featured with guys who hit weak grounders all game, this guy isn't playing?

I figure he's better than Blanchard or Baxter/whoever we've been running out at DH. What gives? He injured? Or has Phillips doctored his swing in a way that he's not producing?

Watched him in fall he is not ready for the SEC or D-1 right now a very long swing.

Probably another case of one of the coaches changing everything about his swing and now he is thinking about the wrong things in the box. Blanchard and Baxter are better right now IMO

gotcha - probably should have worded it as Goodson "has more natural talent" than the other 2, but those guys have more experience in college. Of course last year AJ Cole was supposed to be a freshman savior and that sure didn't work out

As one of the nation's premier hitting instructors, he has extensive track record of success, and a reputation for developing talent and helping young hitters improve as their careers progress. Furthermore, he was also an accomplished collegiate batsman himself,and even played for the Yankees, so you know he has to be a great coach.

As sarcastic as this is, I must admit I really did laugh. I personally have no idea what Andy is teaching the kids, so I can't comment on its correctness or not. I would like to start seeing some results as the temperature warm up, if not it might be uh-oh time!

At this point, they might as well give Goodson a chance in left, long swing or not. The starter is hitting an abysmal .162/.262/.216.
