I've called Sears one of the worse ball handlers on the team and I stand by that comment. I was kind of brushed off las time I posted it but he over dribbles and loses the ball too much for someone with his experience. Something has gotten in his head this year. He's just not the same player we saw last year.Sears dribbles entirely too much and Grant is making bad high school passes.
One may hope.maybe back to back losses lights a fire under them
what did he say?Wimp on JOX; be interesting to hear his take?
Great post. Just got to get everyone back in sync on defense. Looks like we’re scoring at a good enough clip to win (85 against Au and lose by 9. 98 against Mizzou and lose by 12)The good news is, Missouri would have beaten anyone in the country last night. We continued our trend of shooting well from 3 on the road, but it wasn't enough.
Not time to panic, though. Last year's team went into a slump around this time, and was back to normal in time to make a Final 4 run. Everyone forgets how around early February of last year, we were in the top 5 all time in offensive efficiency, and we were so bad for a few weeks that we dropped to 7 in the country just for last season, in that category. We just have to get healthy, and hopefully get Reid back before the tourney so he can get back into form, because we really need his defense. We'll be fine, we just gotta bounce back on Saturday.
They get a whole of fouls called for them. How the heck does a team shoot 47 FTs in a game?
Other than that; how was the play Mrs. Lincoln??Lazy passes on offense, horrendous defense, poor rebounding by our bigs and no leadership from our seniors. This sums it up.
100% agree with everything you wrote. The mark of a great coach is how willing he is to adapt what he does to whatever the current circumstances are. IMHO the thing that made CNO the GOAT was his willingness to adapt. Just my opinion but maybe a shakeup in the coaching staff may be needed. I'm not sure our assistant coaches are up to the caliber of Hodgson and co from a few years ago especially on the defensive side.I know I don't comment a lot on this board, and I just don't get to watch the games like I used to either. And so I hate to spew any negativity, but here goes: This is what we probably need to come to terms with. Our schedule was ridiculously back loaded. We are probably not as good as our record indicated, and we are certainly not a top 5 team or top 10 team.
But, we were not last year either. Again, the tournament is about match ups and seeding; not necessarily how high your seed is but what bracket you get seeded in.
I think the ceiling of this team is probably sweet 16, if we get the right bracket. But we could get bounced in the first weekend if we don't. The way this team plays defense is simply not conducive to a tournament run. It's hard to say Coach Oats needs to adjust his system because, good grief, he's taken Alabama basketball to heights it has never been to before and has us on a year to year run that is exceeding what Coach Sanderson accomplished.
I've said for a couple of years now it is just so frustrating that when Alabama finally gets its act together in basketball, so does the rest of the SEC.
You score 98 points, 99% of the time you win, heck there's NBA teams can't score 98! Turnovers have been a problem all year, when you play the pace we do there's going to be turnovers, but you have to play defense, plus you can't get behind 10-12 points right off the bat, especially on the road because you keep the crowd in it and you also spend a lot of energy trying to catch up, I didn't hear Wimp on jox but I listen to him and Barry on inside the locker room, they both talked about turnovers and going with a set starting line up, seems with start different lineups to muchBama will need to play better on defense period and cut down on the stupid turnovers. We played good enough on offense to win the game last night.
