crimson glasses take here. We were worried like this at the same time last year with a worse team so maybe that means an NC run is coming. Lol
I thought about this today… we were having this same conversation last year at the same time, but ended up finding our defensive man card in the tourney.

We are a long team but not a thick team. The teams we have lost to a much longer and thicker on the perimeter than us. We are not strong enough to fight through the high picks. We simply are not physical enough or long enough on the perimeter to defend some of these teams. Couple this with bad shooting and we have problems.

No team is without weak points. We have ours.

But, I think there is a big overreaction to two losses that have a common denominator. Both AU and Mizz. had red-hot shooting nights. Against the Barn, we were cold and they shot it very, very well. Although I missed the last game, from looking at our offensive stats, they'd be good enough for a win 95% of the time, but it seems they shot it even better!

If you really want to get specific about why we lost these games look at two very, very slow starts. 9-0 and 12-0. Get in a hole like that against good teams and it's hard to overcome such a deficit.

Mizzou had one of those nights where everything clicked. I don't know that I have ever seen a hotter shooting team unless it was Bama at LSU a few seasons ago.

I remember that game. Maybe year 1 of CNO?

We couldn't miss!

A few times a year during the basketball season, it seems we have a "football crowd" come out and bemoan a basketball loss or two as if the season is lost. Games like these happen a few times a year, especially in basketball. You just hope it's not in March or April when there is no "next game" to improve.

it has been almost 50 years since a men's college basketball team went undefeated. I don't think it will ever happen again. Losses happen. The last 2 sucked, but if we get hot like last year, all will be good.

When Kentucky failed to do it that one year, like 15 years ago or so, I gave up on ever seeing it in my lifetime.

Kind of like seeing an undefeated NFL team again.

What's the latest on Reid? He was supposed to have an MRI on Wednesday, but I haven't heard anything.
Reid played a short 2 minutes or so (IIRC) against AU and then went out and never returned. Was he reinjured OR just not ready? He took one shot and it wasn't even close.

We could really use a his long, bulky body and some additional scoring ability.

Outside of Nelson, we aren't getting much from the 4s and 5s in the scoring column. It's time for Stephenson to make a mark.

...

Middle article in this previous post addresses his injury. It's the latest info I have seen.
