Nate Oats Gives Update on Derrion Reid and Houston Mallette Entering SEC Play

"Yeah, he's [Derrion Reid] got an ankle injury he sustained in practice two days ago," Alabama coach Nate Oats said after the game. "It was a little bit of a flair-up from a summer injury. So, we're hoping that clears up quickly and he can practice by middle of the week and be ready to go by Oklahoma, but we'll have to see how it comes."

"Houston Mallette has just had an illness really since we got back after Christmas break," Oats said. "So hopefully whatever bug he's got gets over with quickly and he can get back in and start practicing this week too."

I was going to ask about Mallette. I think participating in only one game does away with a redshirt in basketball.

That appears to be true of all sports but football, where 4 games can be participated in, with limitations on quarters, etc. That means that all the talk of RSing Mallete earlier, some of which I thought came from the top, was so much BS. However, when Latrell went down, I knew we'd have to use Mallette...

I heard Chris Stewart say this was the most pre-SEC schedule wins since the 2010/11 season. We had 10 in the Brandon Miller season.

And we needed it considering getting 11 wins in this conference is going to be brutal work.
