Are you trying to say ole Roy helped us during all of that?Surprise, surprise. The NCAA is a joke. They hate Bama cause we will be successful again in spite of NCAA sanctions and penalties, and if not for Roy Kramer, they'd of given the death penalty. They HATE Bama.
The NCAA is worried about how much money they can make, and how much power they can wield. They don't care about ANY student-athlete, and only about Big 10 and Pac 10 schools and of course Notre Dame. If Bama, it's boosters, or some bum who found a Bama t-shirt and wore it, were to do even one of the things USC, OSU, or ND has done, we'd be done. Sorry to rant. Another stupid rule from a stupid bunch of people.

Reread the article. Coach Saban doesn't like the rule about spring visits. The other coaches in the SEC didn't either till Coach Saban came back into the league. Coach Saban has stated he visited roughly 100 high school spring practices last year. That's the problem. Other coaches didn't want to spend that much time analyzing high school players. In other words, they don't want to work. They want to handicap someone who does.:mad2:If I'm not mistaken CNS likes this rule. It takes the grey area out of in-school visits. Remember the inappropriate amount of conversation CNS had with a few recruits that got blown out of proportion? This rule prevents that from happening. It won't hurt or hinder the University in any way. No HC can visit. This is an appropriate correction to a hastily conceived rule.
That is why so many coaches voted in favor of the rule change. CNS and UM are busting their tail on the recruiting trail, while others are sitting around hoping the prospects come to them.Coach Saban has stated he visited roughly 100 high school spring practices last year. That's the problem. Other coaches didn't want to spend that much time analyzing high school players. In other words, they don't want to work. They want to handicap someone who does.
Does anything prevent assistants from visiting and evaluating? Are they not capable of spotting the proverbial diamond in the rough and telling CNS about them?"The intent of the (old) rule was when a head coach from a big-time program walked into a (high) school in the spring to evaluate, he couldn't have contact with prospects," said Greg Sankey, SEC associate commissioner for NCAA compliance. "But with the popularity of our head coaches, the rule put them in difficult situations. There have been enough enforcement issues over this issue lately that we felt the best thing to do was remove (the head coaches) from the difficult situation entirely."
Saban said he agrees with the conference's position.
"We are put in difficult situations," he said. "We walk into a school and people want autographs, pictures, but I always tell coaches, `I can't talk to a prospect at all.' And I never do."
The assistants can visit and evaluate, just not the head coach.Does anything prevent assistants from visiting and evaluating?
Why not a feel good story for the Bama Nation on how well CNS is doing in recruiting, especially since he is in the job for just over a year now? You do want your readers to enjoy what you write don't you?Saban also knows he has been frequently accused of secondary violations such as illegal contact in the spring. And if Saban is guilty of violating the rules, then he should be punished.
Its ashame that other coaches voted this. Getting your butts kicked by Coach Saban and Coach Meyer is embarrassing. You can bet the Big 10 voted for this, all ten plus. Only Ohio St. is in the Top 10 team at number 9 in recruiting. That could change tomorrow and they could easily be out of the top 10, leaving no team from Big 10 in the top 10. Get all that. Those coaches are not willing to put it all on the line for the money they make and it shows.Maybe it is just coincidence that the first year Saban is back in the Southeastern Conference, the league's coaches overwhelmingly vote in favor of the rule, which, just a few years ago, many of these same coaches voted against.
Not even a little bit!!This won't even slow Coach Saban down.
