It is a little more complicated. Head coaches have to be able to adapt their style to their players everywhere, but they also have to be willing to adapt their styles based on the opponents. Some systems simply will not work against some offenses or defenses. We will have to see if DeBoer's system will work in the SEC. I was not sure that Meyer's could, but it did. If it doesn't, how will DeBoer adapt?

This year doesn't count. Won't hold Milroe against him (though he should not have made it through the entire season, losing the LANK squad be damned).

Let's see what he does in 2025.
I’m sorry man, but you absolutely cannot say “this year doesn’t count”. #1 this is Alabama…#2 this was a playoff team with even SEMI competent QB play

The most tiring thing about watching this offense was Milroe. He is a great athlete but the offense had to be pieced together to allow him a chance to function within it. He is a near-great runner but other teams figured out that when he ran along the line of scrimmage, they could commit the entire defense to stopping him because he had no downfield vision and was not going to pass. I have absolutely missed having a QB who had vision and could hit a receiver 10 to 15 yards downfield in stride. How many big plays did we miss by not having that ability?
He’s fast…that’s it.

I mean, I hear you. But I will play Devil’s Advocate and ask this: why would guys like Law and Odom transfer if they knew Milroe was leaving?
I’m going to say this. One of those situations i know a little more personally and it was more of an issue where one party in the decision making process was just done with Alabama after they were told in certain terms to shut up and color.

The other I know a friend who is close with the family and it was more of a fit problem more than anything. Even though they weren’t the biggest Milroe fans.

I think one was always going to be gone and the other was more of a situation where they reach a point in which they were done with the staff’s decision on it.

There was a Saban quote; something along the lines of "High achievers don't like mediocre people and mediocre people don't like high achievers". unfortunately, Saban let someone in the mediocre camp get sway.

I'm pulling very hard for Law to find success elsewhere.

That kid was out there playing his butt off doing dirty work that gets very few thank you's.

Then you have the staff go out and throw the group under the bus like it's their fault MIlroe is Terrible.

People can be mad at me about it but I don't like how this staff handles anything.

The staff didn’t throw the kid under the bus, they told him to just work it out with Milroe. And you can see how Milroe reacts to receivers showing him up goes.
I was meaning to refer to either the Tenn or OU game where Milroe couldn't throw the ball into the Ocean from a Boat and when the Media was questioning the Offense afterwards the sound bytes were "We've got to do a better job finding space and helping the QB... etc etc"

You could probably pull up an exact example of whatever they were talking about with a screen shot from the game and there's like 2-3 guys WIDE OPEN and MIlroe just holding ball.

They coddled Milroe all year to the point of critiquing any position group but him.

A backup could come in the game at OL or TE or WR and miss a block and they'd get their butts lit up but Milroe can throw behind WR's, throw pick 6s, fumble the ball at least once a game etc etc.... and it's "He's doing fine.... he's doing great" "Good Job Kid."

Hundred million different answers to that question. These are a bunch of immature kids we are talking about here. My 22 yo is like 12. So any shiny object would be my response.

Well, Milroe officially declared today so that should end the speculation and begin the "divorce" or whatever people want to call it.

I think, whatever happens next year, we'll see it happen with a lot less drama surrounding decisions. If we don't, then it's either because the sport at large is truly ruined (meaning, everyone everywhere, including Kirby or whoever the supposed current greatest coach is, is dealing with the same variables), or this staff specifically can't navigate the issue in Tuscaloosa (although they did a pretty good job of it at Washington).

Now the entire offense can focus on running with a true pocket passer.

They both left because they lost confidence in the staff. How the QB situation was handled soured a lot of players (wr's specifically) toward the staff.

Saban not sending Milroe packing after 2022 already set us back years.

That'll drive us crazy for years. Yes, I love CNS and he's the GOAT, but he wasn't perfect and that decision tanked 2 seasons.

Yeah, I know we won the SEC last year. But that's more because of Kirby and our OL having one amazing game than any other reason. Glad CNS got that on the way out, but, while winning the SEC is good, that's not the goal anymore.

Let’s say none of Alabama's wide receivers hit the portal/draft this year. Who would be the top six wide receivers in the rotation (with all portal departures included)?

Starters:
- Williams
- Bernard
- Adams

Next 3 off the bench:
- Horton
- Hale
- Mbakwe or Scott. Maybe Law

If you are Law, Prentice, or Henderson, you should hit the portal to get playing time with a lower-tier team. It is just common sense and has nothing to do with the Alabama QB situation in 2024.

Uh, Law has committed to Kentucky already.
