True. We will hear soon enough, but when admin doesn't like you very well to begin with you really shouldn't do anything to help them make a decision on your future like that. It may amount to absolutely nothing in the end.

Gene Stallings must be shaking his head in amazement after surviving what became known as the "Junction Boys" under Coach Bryant.

Mike Leach is a little on the strange side, but my guess is this young man had a history of testing the system and trying to be a slacker. Unfortunately, if there are doctors that are saying the kid actually had a concussion, Mr. Leach is in deep trouble.

It's way too early to speculate on this particular incident, but I believe the Mark Mangino controversy at Kansas and the way it was handled will spawn more and more issues like this, as players with various grievances and their parents feel empowered to come forward with allegations of mistreatment (either verbal or physical).
I remember when Bobby Knight was fired from IU, I thought to myself 'we are becoming a nation of wimps'.

I just don't think putting the kid in a dark closet is that big a deal in and of itself. But my lord...how weird. How did Leach get this far with that kind of impulse control?

I believe in tough coaches and disciplining players when needed, but I don't believe in humiliating them, and locked in a dark closet has to be humiliating. But with that said, I kinda think that James might be a slacker.
I wonder if Leach knew he had a (alleged) concussion.

I probably should wait until all the facts come out but doing that is no fun so I'll say it. Kids these days are a bunch of pansies...
I really don't care about TT football, they can fire Leach today and I would be mainly worried would it affect any of our assistances. However, I do want to point out these 'kids' today are also going room to room clearing out buildings in Afghanistan. They are driving convoys down roads strewn with IEDs, never knowing where the next explosion is coming from. So before we start complaining about the weakness of this generation try visiting some of the disabled vets that are coming back from overseas. Every time I deal with one of them, I find renewed faith in these 'kids' of today.

I agree and I believe that's what the scout team could be used for. By the way, that is exactly what happened to a fellow worker I work with who happened to be on the 1978-79 Championship Team. Coach Bryant put his butt on the Scout Team and made him earn it back for not producing like Coach wanted or thought he should. LoL, if you only knew what he did to get back in the rotation of defense on game day. :cool2:

I've always thought this guy had some kind of mental issuse, now this just reaffirms it. IMO. The dudes got major problems. I think he's a wacko job.

He played for the Puff n' Stuffs.
Actually, I think Bobby played for The Wind. He played against the Puff n' Stuffs.

Would this be as big of a deal if James sat in an equipment bin with turf toe? The think the fact he was suffering from a concussion makes this seem worse in the eyes of the talking heads and admin. With all the attention football concussions are getting, Leach knew better than to make light of it. It could have been worse. He could have played him two weeks after the severe concussion. Of course, no decent coach would do that.

Whatever happened, IMO the administration must work out a way for Leach to be elsewhere by next season. The hit on recruiting will be severe if Leach stays at TT. Recruits will know Leach is on a short leash so they'll look elsewhere.

In the next week or so, don't be surprised to see Leach and sand aggy have entered into a settlement agreement where Pirate Mike receives a payment of $5 million bucks and he goes on his way (with a nondisparagement clause in tow).

Shortly thereafter, sand aggy announces Kevin Sumlin (Houston's coach) as their new head guy.

Leach pretty much picks and chooses which middle of the road school in a BCS conference he wants to go to (Washington State, Az State, etc).. or he sits out a year, signs on with the Eastern Sports Promotional Network as a studio guy for a year, collects his money and sees what jobs come open.
LOL...sand aggie.....hah hah! :biggrin2:

I remember when Bobby Knight was fired from IU, I thought to myself 'we are becoming a nation of wimps'.

When I played high school basketball, the coaches often disciplined us by refusing to give us water during two-, three-hour practices. After one loss, the football coach held tackling practice on gravel after dark. Nobody would do that today.

Fortunately, coaches are no longer above the law. The good ones can be as tough and demanding as they need to be. But all of them must be accountable.

That Mike Leach would make a show of someone with an injury as much in the news as a concussion points toward a death wish.
