You just mentioned a few guys essentially missing about one game each. That is the exact definition of a few guys missing a few games.
And it's not about credit. It seems like you always want to paint the people around here as hating LSU and always talking about bad about them and putting them in a bad light, but I do not see that at all. The discussion around here is very civil and respectful, and nearly everyone -- even Auburn and Tennessee -- are given a fair shake. And honestly I think you know that, otherwise you wouldn't even waste your time writing 500+ posts on a board that is supposedly full of people just wanting to put your team down.
The fact of the matter is that while extremely talented and experienced, all the while not having particularly bad injury luck and essentially all of the key games at home, LSU nevertheless lost twice to grossly inferior teams. A 7-5 Kentucky team beat LSU, and then a 7-4 Arkansas team, complete with a lame-duck head coach who was about to resign, came in and beat LSU on Senior Day in Tiger Stadium. Beyond that, it's the games that somehow you guys barely won. After trailing 59 minutes against Florida, somehow won. After trailing 45 minutes against Auburn, including down inside ten seconds, somehow won. After trailing the entire second half against Alabama, somehow won. And trailed Tennessee most of the way, yet won when Tennessee imploded. And yes I know you guys won the SEC, but as most have realized it was very much a down year for the SEC, and Tennessee was arguably the worst team to ever make the SEC Championship Game, and the victory there was much less convincing than what Cal, Florida, and Alabama did against that same team.
I think most people look at LSU and say they are a good team, but far from great, and that you guys are lucky as hell, and nothing more, to be in the national championship game. And I think that's a fair analysis of the situation.
Again, the discussion around here is always respectful and civil, and everyone, including your Bayou Bengals, gets a fair shake. It just so happens that in this case the objective stance taking by most doesn't exactly mesh with the LSU homer doctrine that this 2007 LSU team is truly great. That doesn't mean that we all hate LSU -- I don't, nor do the overwhelming majority here at TideFans -- and thus don't give them their proper "credit." And I must say again, if you really think that, I don't see why you have spent so much time posting here among a bunch of people that you think hate your team and are always putting them down.
