They traded it away to the Bears, who were also 5-12 last year.
So, it did not work out for both teams.
It the same reason the Bears took Justin Fields, because of their raw, athletic profiles. If there were guys who needed to sit for a few years behind an established QB, it's Richardson and Fields.I cant for the life of me figure out what in the world the colts were thinking on that. he was a day 3 pick at best...
…and they tend to open the pocket book in strange ways. Work the FA market a little more wisely maybe?Time will tell on the Bears part. I am cautiously optimistic. The Bears problems have been mainly coaching.
Why would the Browns trade the 33rd pick for the 32nd pick when Philly has absolutely no desire to draft a quarterback in the 1st round? It makes zero sense financially or strategically.I apologize if this has already been addressed. I think Milroe will probably be the last pick in round 1 (32nd pick) to the Browns after they and the Eagles trade places.
Why do you hate Tommy Rees?I apologize if this has already been addressed. I think Milroe will probably be the last pick in round 1 (32nd pick) to the Browns after they and the Eagles trade places.
Yep. There’s no risk of the Eagles taking him. And, if the Browns want him at 33 he’ll be there & they can pay him Day 2/2nd round money. It’s cheaper all the way around, draft stock & financially, to take him in day 2, pick 1. A place, personally, I think is too high for him, unless he drops the QB route. As a QB he’s a day 3 selection. As an athlete, he’s a high day 2 pick. Why would the Browns trade the 33rd pick for the 32nd pick when Philly has absolutely no desire to draft a quarterback in the 1st round? It makes zero sense financially or strategically.
If Milroe goes in the first round it’s going to either be a “what the hell” kinda pick like the Rams, someone desperate for a qb on the roster like the Saints, or the Browns or Giants trading in the first round in pick 24-30 to beat the other to the punch. The point is that any trade up is going to be at a high cost and not just a swap and a random 4th round pick.
Actually, it does make sense. First round picks can be locked in for four years plus a fifth year option while draft picks from other rounds cannot, and moving up one spot into the 1st Round won't cost the Browns a ton of additional draft capital. Why would the Browns trade the 33rd pick for the 32nd pick when Philly has absolutely no desire to draft a quarterback in the 1st round? They've actually been reasonable in FA, imo.…and they tend to open the pocket book in strange ways. Work the FA market a little more wisely maybe?
There are alot of “ifs” in that, and they don’t really lead to it being a smart move to move up one spot other than providing some good will towards Milroe and inflating an ego.Actually, it does make sense. If the Browns are able to work with Milroe and turn him into a serviceable QB by the time they can get Mr. Massage's contract off the books, then you get a fifth year of him at a massive discount by picking up his fifth year option.
The 49ers traded away 3 1st round picks to trade up and get Trey Lance. Drafting Brock Purdy the year after as the last pick in the entire NFL draft saved their Trey Lance mistake.the panthers traded away 2 drafts to get Bryce. Why some NFL teams think this is a winning strategy, I will never understand.
Tommy Rees would be the REASON he would be picked! Do a little research before you throw out that babble! Why do you hate Tommy Rees?
A man was seen running in interstate traffic today, using his own underwear as a blindfold. He was later identified as Tommy Rees, the Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator. Officer body cam footage has audio of Rees screaming, “This is better, this is better!!” Rees’ family claims his disappearance coincides with the Brown’s draft picks in the first round.Tommy Rees seeing it live.

They’ve been spending decent money since Mack…and they’ve all kinda worked out like that. Good players, good guys…maybe even great, but we’re still like 2-16 the last 9 years vs the cheeseheads…so maybe just not the right spots? They've actually been reasonable in FA, imo.

Well I think everyone is starting to see aside from Cam Ward there really isn’t a sure fire quarterback in the draft. I think Dart maybe the guy that is most likely to succeed after Ward but it’s a risk like Kenny Pickett was.Jackson Dart has now backed out of attending the draft. Shadeur Sanders isn't attending either. I'm surprised Milroe is still attending at this point. I think word is beginning to leak to Sanders and Dart, there is a good chance they're not going to be taken in the first round.
