“Next year, it’s going to be a really talented group that’s going to be in position to do a lot of special things next year,” Milroe said. “I’m excited for those guys for the opportunity that’s presented for them.”

Simpson is likely the player in pole position to win the starting job next season. He has spent three seasons with the program.

“I think he did a really good job of constantly trying to improve,” Milroe said of Simpson in 2024. “Trying to go 1-0. Just learning and growing as a quarterback. I’ve been in his shoes before, just being behind Bryce and learning each and every day to just try to be the best version of myself. That’s exactly what he does. Try to beat on his craft. Learn. Grow, and it’s been awesome just to see how much he’s grown as a quarterback and also as a leader. I’m behind him through this whole process and I enjoy being around him.”

Yeah, he's gone
It certainly sounds like it.

It will be interesting to see if CKD brings in a QB from the portal. If he gets a solid player, then he's looking for depth behind the starter. If he brings in an experienced, highly productive QB, then that tells us a lot about his confidence in the guys currently in the QB room.

Yeah, idk anything about the portal QBs so idk if there is anyone out there worth going after. Maybe we'll get lucky and a bigger name will enter the portal

I thought that Lonergan had a shot, but it looks like Ty is going to be the guy.

A lot of Lonergan’s rise in popularity is mostly due to JM and TS never being able to separate themselves from each other and DL’s familiarity with 2nd and 3rd string guys. IDK if he really had a shot whatsoever and was more of a “i just wish someone would win it” type guy amongst the fans. In my opinion of watching these guys in REC scrimmages is that Lonergan was the most consistent scrimmage to scrimmage and Milroe was by far the worst guy at practice and Simpson always seemed to have the best arm out of all of them.

I suspect Simpson maybe our Jake Coker or Mac Jones guy who gets one year to shine and we have a battle next year. But then again I could see us going after a one year guy in the portal to do the same thing. Who really knows but I think we go for an upper class man next year.

Sounds like a man ready to go get drafted. I wish him well.

Now, time to move on! TS, Mack and new freshman stud Russell will battle it out.

Russell will probably be the "star" of the spring....just the way it works with new QBs. But it'll be a shock if TS isn't the man.

Odds I'd put on starter next fall:
TS: 65%
AM: 10%
KR: 25%

BTW, that's no disrespect to AM, but I believe KR will be the next "star Bama QB."

That's the best part about the spring ball: Two real good QBs batting it out . The offense will be in good space with either of them.

Don't expect Russell to start as true FR. This is not the time to do this. He is real good, but he still got some seasoning to do. I can see him being battling for No. 2 spot though.

What I would like for him to do is come in with the confidence and hunger to be the #1 but to have the patience and humility to wait and develop if he were to not win it this season. He does that and we have us a winner for awhile behind center at Alabama.

Every qb should have that mentality: Be that no.1

It's a big jump from HS to college - especially the SEC. Not to mention the complexity of CKD's offense. It will take time for KR to learn the offense and adjust to college ball.

I would just like to see more opportunities for the backup QB - whoever he is - to get some meaningful playing time and not just hand-offs and kneel-downs at the end of the game.
