Make the case without the words "2 Super Bowl rings" for Eli Manning.
It cannot be done.

Eli Manning's teams with him as a starting QB were .500 (117-117).
- never led the league in passing yards (only higher than 5th ONE TIME)
- was in the top ten in QBR ONE TIME
- the only category he ever led the league in was INTERCEPTIONS....THREE TIMES (only Vinny T led more)

He's Donovan McNabb with two Super Bowl rings.

The only other "argument" for Eli is, "but he's 11th in passing yards and ahead of (name HOFers)." But that to me is like saying a bunch of guys have more RBIs than Jackie Robinson so they should be in the Hall, too.

Is Earl Morrall a HOFer with 3 rings? Unlike Eli, he won an NFL MVP, led the league in TD passes, and won most of the games in Miami's 1972 undefeated season.

Is Matt Ryan a HOFer?
Matt Ryan's stats beat Eli in almost everything except Super Bowl rings. Ryan played for WORSE teams but has a BETTER record (he played only 2 games less). His completion pct is five points higher, and he threw for 5,000 more yards in as I said only 2 more games. He has 15 more TDs and 61 FEWER INTs. And nearly 1,000 more rushing yards.

Oh, and Ryan is NINTH on the passing list.

Is Matt Ryan a HOFer? No. Take away one catch by David Tyree and add one score by Ryan (in LI) and they'd both have a Super Bowl ring. Would ANYONE be talking about Eli for the Hall but for that one play difference?

Is Jim Plunkett a HOFer?
Two Super Bowl wins and a .500 lifetime record, that's good enough for Eli, right?
Well then why isn't Plunkett in the HOF? He has those exact same credentials (72-72).

Oh, what's that? Eli is 11th in passing yards? Well, when he retired, Plunkett was 18th - and Plunkett played half of his career under the pre-1978 passing rules that allowed defenders to knock receivers down all over the field before the ball was thrown. But despite those handicaps, Plunkett has the exact same yards per attempt Eli does (7.0), so in context, he's better.

Is Russell Wilson a Hall of Famer?
The guy can't keep a job but if his coach hadn't outsmarted himself, Wilson would have two rings. He's five spots behind Eli in passing yardage (oh, but he threw for more than Fouts or Montana and he's only 37 yards behind Tarkenton).

Wilson started 31 fewer games than Eli but WON FOUR MORE (121-80-1).
He has a higher percentage (by four points).
He has 130 fewer INTs (good Gawd).
He only has 13 fewer pass TDs IN TWO THOUSAND FEWER ATTEMPTS.
And I haven't even mentioned Wilson rushed for 5,000 more yards than Eli and added 31 ground TDs.

So if Eli is a HOFer then:
- so is Matt Ryan
- so is Russell Wilson
- so is Jim Plunkett
- so is Earl Morrall (at least a case can be made for him)
- and quite frankly so is McNabb

And I don't think any of those guys are HOFers.

Debatable.

He did lead the league in passing yards 3 times (once after the league merger) and TDs once. And prior to Dan Fouts, he was the only guy to throw for more than 4000 yards and he did it in a 14-game season.

But he probably does not have the cache’ or a big moment to have made it without that win.

What if he played for the Broncos and had the exact same stats but has the opposite personality?

Concerning Marino, he was probably my favorite NFL QB for years and years. Lightning fast release and he could put it on the money.

But good for Milroe getting a ring, along with the other Bama boys with the Seahawks.

The thing about it is Eli is still the 3rd best quarterback in his own draft class yet he was the first taken and the most talked about one of that draft class.

If people are on the fence about about Phillip rivers and Big Ben then why are they so sure about Eli Manning.
