He took a very hard shot directly in the middle of his chest. It didn't necessarily look that way, but that's what happened.
You take shots to the chest harder than that during some drills.

Unless there was some sort of pre-existing injury, I don't see how the hit could have directly led to that.

Of course, that could simply be a failure of imagination...

We’ve seen gruesome football injuries before but this is the worst thing I’ve ever seen on a football field in a long, long time.

Wasn’t there a college player many, many years ago that needed a tracheotomy on the field or did I just completely make that up? I don’t know why I remember something like that.

Anyway, this is heartbreaking. I hope the young man is makes. Supposedly given COR on the field for “many minutes” as one of the ESPN guys put it. That can’t be good.

From the tweet above, what does AED stand for?

Baseball and lacrosse players die from less extreme hits to their chests. Scary.

I hesitate to mention this, but all that's been running through my mind has been Dale Earnhardt. That too looked like a benign crash compared to what you usually see.

I pray this will turn out differently.

I’m old enough to remember in 1971 a Detroit Lions player collapsed on the field in a game with the Chicago Bears and passed away from a massive heart attack. Nothing to do with injury. Had undiagnosed heart disease.

But nothing, I mean nothing like watching something like this unfold in front of you.

This really makes you understand how insignificant the results of this game we all love really is. This game needs to suspended indefinitely until we have word about Damar’s condition and prognosis. These guys will not be in any shape emotionally for a long while.

Prayers continued.
