I don't have a clue, nor would I care if I did, about "insiders" opinion regarding play by play for Alabama FB. I did not personally listen to John Forney (no reception) "in the day" but I love hearing his excitement on "This Is Alabama FB" CD. Again, I did not personally hear Jerry Duncan (out of state during his tenure), but reading about him, I'm positive I would have really enjoyed listening to him. If I ever again find an equal to Keith Jackson, I will listen to TV. Until then, I will continue to mute TV and listen to Eli and Stabler. Of course, they are not perfect...but Stabler's sense of humor and the excitement in his voice, which he cannot disguise, when Bama is 'on game' is infectious. And I can "hear" the strain in the voices when Bama is 'off game'. Since I also understand less about the specific play by play, in terms of FB terms, than most posters in this thread, any mistake would go unnoticed by me. And I care less about the 'specifics' than many of you on this forum, but I want a bias description of the game-bias in favor of my team! Just enough to reassure me you're really pulling for my team, too! If, like news broadcast, for example, a script could be followed, then we could grade them on being 'good readers', which would include pronounciation, correctness, etc. Chris Stewart is terrific-he has a 'free style' and a vocabulary that makes his play by play refreshing, entertaining, and engaging. Would he be same calling FB? Don't know, but I would expect so. I enjoy Eli and Snake. Maybe what the audience really needs is a keener pair of ears. Roll Tide!:BigA:
