This one upsets me because my brother's wife (e.g. my SIL) got my brother and his elder autistic son (both are) tickets to the Fenway Bowl, and he was all excited about going. (The kid also appears to have my memory, folks - for real).

Both the Fenway Bowl between Virginia and SMU and the Military Bowl between Boston College and East Carolina have been canceled due to COVID-19 outbreaks.

COVID-19 issues within the Virginia team forced the Cavaliers to withdraw from Wednesday's scheduled game, while Boston College confirmed that rising COVID-19 cases within the team led to Monday's game being called off.

Sorry to hear their trip to the bowl got canceled. I have friends with autistic children and know how a change in plans can affect them sometimes.
There will most likely be more games canceled before this comes to an end…..
Since the brother works in news, he had already had a chance to to at least prep the child mentally. But when it's what you got for Christmas at a time things didn't look as bad as they were, it's a tad disappointing.

I don't like this.

The College Football Playoff management committee updated its policies last week for the national championship and the Cotton Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl and Peach Bowl, should any team be unable to compete in those games..........During the playoff semifinals, a team that doesn't have enough players will forfeit and its opponent will advance to the national championship game in Indianapolis. The championship — currently scheduled for Jan. 10 — can be rescheduled as late as Jan. 14. At that point, any team unable to play will forfeit, leaving the other as the national champion........If neither team can play, the CFP said, "then the game shall be declared 'no contest' and the CFP National Championship shall be vacated for this season."

I'm honestly not trying to be the uncompassionate jerk and YES, I realize Obi-wan is running wild (like Hulkamania), but I'm also starting to wonder if we aren't getting a bunch of, "We don't want to play that game, so we'll say we don't have enough players" ruses, too.

You basically need 24 folks to play - 11 on both sides of the ball, a kicker, and a punter. If you want to even it up, a team can only play with as many as the lower team number has available. You can even play the game with a running clock except for the last five minutes of both halves.

(Yes, I know part of this in a few cases has to do with the team actually getting there).

Problem is position groups all film study and meet together. What if it takes out the entire secondary, WR group, OL, etc?

Now Boise State has dropped out of their bowl game. Arizona bowl I believe. The thinking there is that Central Michigan, the would be opponent of Boise State, will be invited to the Sun Bowl to face Washington State

That was part of the problem with A&M. I've now forgotten the details but they were without anyone or very low with some position groups.

There is an article on ESPN.com where the Eagles are splitting up their QB's due to covid. They aren't allowed to be around each other. I guess that means virtual team meetings.

If I were Saban I would be doing this. I feel like the NFL is more strict with testing, but still.

So you work for ESPN. You get a phone call that the game has been canceled four hours prior to kickoff. Now you have to find something to air in its place. One of your interns saves the day when they say, "How about Seniors Scrabble??"

How about Australian Rules Football? Hey, that's how ESPN first started anyways...

Personally, I enjoyed watching that, but no longer available.☹

If Young gets this, well, let's hope he doesn't. The rest of the room won't matter.
