I've said it before--the economic impact of Katrina (and now, Rita) will make 9/11 look like a drop in the bucket.ValuJet said:Will Gambling Return?
How will MS make up the shortfall of $250 million in revenue just during the 4th Quarter?
I think he's just p*ssed because the casinos will allow his congregation to fritter away the money he needs for the new racquetball court.CAC Executive Jimmy Porter should show some facts and figures to support his claim of hardship on citizens. I don't get that. Is he blasting the Indians on the outskirts of Noxapater too?
Yeah, that image of a casino barge several hundred yards inland has quite an impact. Some of the casinos have vowed not to return if they have to put those barges out there again. I can't say I blame them. Simply put, without this industry, the MS Coast will retun to its luster as an industrial backwater.
I've never quite understood state govt. officials and their obsession with keeping casinos on barges and riverboats.ValuJet said:Will Gambling Return?

Right. And to cause a DIFFERENT bunch of people to suffer poverty and unemployment...It's On A Slab said:In Mississippi, it was a last-ditch attempt to help people who were languishing in poverty and unemployment.
