One thing that is worth noting is that Auburn, regardless of who their DC is, is running Tuberville's defense.
Is that correct? I've have always heard that Tuberville is not an Xs and Os guy, doesn't run anything with respect to the schemes except for a play here or there, and merely manages the team like a CEO. I certainly hope it's not as described above because Auburn would not have lost anything with the departure of WM.

Yes, it is VERY true. Tuberville initially installed the "D" and it hasn't changed regardless of who is the DC. Yes, the DC makes the calls on gameday but the "D" that is used is and always has been Tuberville's.

As for whomever told you that Tuberville isn't an X's and O's guys doesn't know a thing about Tuberville. Tuberville is and has been a very talented coach...regardless of how much we like to make fun of him. He was on some very top notch staffs prior to becoming a head coach. Yes, he does run a CEO type of business for AU Football and is to be commended on that, however, that has nothing to do with the fact that the Defensive schemes and terminology are the ones he installed. He also does a good amount of breaking tapes down with his coaches and is very involved in game planning. His CEO work is seen in practice and on gamedays, but behind the scenes he is VERY invovled.

The only thing that Tommy Tuberville has done well is to get himself in the right place at the right time.

Unless you've been with the man since his Ole Miss days, a Tuberville Assistant Coach is always on the hot seat. You are always and everywhere the first man under the bus.

Some Auburn puke calls the radio station this morning and marvels that Muschamp would even consider leaving wonderful Auburn and moving to Texas.

What an idiot..... Let's think about it.....Muschamp has to decide between Opelika/East Alabama or Austin, current pathetic salary or being one of the top paid assistants in the country, and the icing, being at lowly Auburn or one of the most storied programs in NCAA college football history......let's see ummmmmm. Dude, no brainer....

I agree with you Alistar.....
That was my line of thinking also. Except, no matter what "stink" comes from Lee county (other than the cow poop) the snake-oil salesman always manages to survive. Oh well, maybe with Muschamp leaving we can witness the simultaneous implosion of both the Offense & Defense!

Sorry I just missed your joke I guess or didn't understand it.
My original post was an attempt at humor, but in my groggy state I completely forgot that the chop-blocking was done on the offensive side of the ball, which made my attempt at humor fall flat.

Ok,

Auburn fans say this is a lateral move...

So, let's do the math to proove this isn't a lateral move....

Will Muschamp Auburn salary is $350,000

Texas is supposedly offering 1.6 million over 3 years (Average $533,333). So according to an Auburn fan if you were making...

$50,000 a year & got a new job with a raise to $76,000
$100,000 a year & got a new job with a raise to $152,000
$250,000 a year & got a new job with a raise to $380,000

In AU, logic...that would be a lateral move...

:)

Elmore, Al.
Tubberville can't keep a real good ...'t coach because he will not try to help them get a Head coaching job. Gene Chizik said as much when he left 2 years ago.
Also, Tubby always says that he coaches the D anyway so it doesn't really matter who he hires.

Some of this may well be fallout from the Borges firing. Muschamps, being the smart guy that he is, sees how things are run at the Barn. Outside influences there boarder on insanity and no one's job is ever secure from one year to the next. Unless, you are in that small inter circle of power. Only one coach makes that circle and he's an ex coach. Bottom line IMO, until Lowder and Dye kick the bucket, nothing will ever change at the Barn. Here's to a long life to both.:)

It's not just Lowder and Dye pulling strings that scares good coaches. It's also Tub's willingness to purge the assistant coaches' ranks when things are not going well. Noel Mazzone and John Lovett were both canned on a single afternoon following the 2001 season. Last season, it was David Gibbs who got pushed out. This year, Al Borges met the executioner. Tub changes assistants like Cher changes costumes and Larry King changes wives.

Maybe just maybe they see the writing on the wall... BAMA is back and CNS is turning this program right where it has been for decades.. they all KNOW that the only success they can enjoy is nc2a aided and now that is over and they are returning to their rightful place (lower tier of the west).

Talk all they want about 6 times we still own the overall and 9 straight. The writing is on the wall and at least he is one guy over in cowtown who can read!
