My grandmother (aged 90) was in a pretty bad car wreck a few weeks back near Ft. Myers, FL. Thankfully all the safety devices on her car worked perfectly (seatbelt, airbags, etc.) but given her age, she suffered some pretty bad injuries--cracked ribs, bruised legs, etc. There were initially some concerns about damage to internal organs, she was in ICU for a few days monitoring her heart and lungs for trouble, but those have since subsided and she appears to be all clear on that. She's in a rehab hospital now trying to, well, rehab from the physical injuries. All told, she's in good shape considering her age and severity of the wreck, especially considering it very easily could have killed her. Pray for continued healing and that she can get home soon--by Christmas!. She seems in good spirits.
Thankfully, she has family (daughter, son in law, two grand children & their spouses, and five great-grandchildren) in town, not to mention countless friends from church and her neighborhood she's known for the 30+ years she's lived there who can come by and visit, and encourage her. It's hard for me (and other family) living so far away, but we're of course grateful for so many people who can be there for her. She seems to really perk up when her great grandchildren (aged 1 to 10) come to visit. My aunt (her daughter) is visiting her multiple times daily and giving nightly e-mail updates.
Thanks!
