Outside Philly
I got back to Pennsylvania late Sunday night, and had to work today, so I haven't had a chance to post till now.

What a weekend!

I was afraid that Penn State would not be able to hang with Bama, unless they could play a near flawless game. Well, 3 turnovers in the Red Zone pretty much killed what remote chance we had. Alabama is simply the better team on both sides of the line of scrimmage.

I don't feel there is a lot of shame in going into a hostile environment, against arguably the best team in College Football,(I don't have a vote in any of the polls, but I would vote you guys #1). and giving your all, with a young team.

Richardson is as good as advertised. I thought you guys were crazy saying you thought he was better than Ingram. McElroy did what veteran QB's do best, and credit to your coaches who came up with a quality gameplan (5 receiver spread?) that kept our defense guessing.

As I said earlier, I knew walking out of T-town win a win was a remote possibility, so I went into the weekend just looking to have a good time in a great College atmosphere. I was not disappointed. From the ribs at Dreamland, to the Yuengling beer on tap at the Houndstooth, with the Phillies on TV no less. I enjoyed talking with many knowledgable football fans all weekend. Thanx to Charles from New Orleans, and Jason from Dallas, for respectful pregame talk. I caught the Marching Band on the steps of the Library. I told some students that is why I love college football. I live 10 minutes from the Philadelphia Eagles Stadium, and to me the Pro game cannot match the pageantry, and passion of the college game.

Good luck the rest of the way. I don't think anyone in the country can beat you, as long as Saban can keep the men focused. I hope we don't have to wait another 20 years for a home and home again. If I'm still alive, I will be back. Thanks again.

p.s. God bless the coeds who cheered me up by wearing the combination of a sundress with cowboy boots!!!

Thanks for visiting and I’m glad you had a good time. Y’all have a good team and your QB is going to be a force as soon as the College game slows down for him. I was impressed with his poise. The only bad decisions that I can think of was when we were able to get “in your face” pressure on him. BTW - IMO Yuengling is the best beer hands down.

Glad to hear you had a great time, sir. I hate we didn't get to have our little drinking competition, but there's always a possibility in the future. :cheers2:

Don't be a stranger and be sure to drop us a line every now and again.

And lastly, of course, good luck to you guys the rest of the way. I have already declared Penn State as my second favorite college football team! You guys are awesome!

appreciate the classy comments about our young men, tuscaloosa. i actually had tears in my eyes, when joe pa, bobby bowden, and the heir apparent met at midfield. talk about a dynasty of coaching. i am old enough to have watched penn state, and fla state many years ago. i have made trips to the mountain top to see penn state and maryland play in a snow storm. what a crazy experience, this was way back when the stadium, and the parking lot was the only thing standing in that area. we sat on the 40 yard line the whole game and could not see a single play, thank goodness for the pa man. penn state was in all white, and maryland was in their blue, red, white uniforms.

Ed, it's a pleasure to see someone come to Bama and receive the Southern Hospitality that's genuine....

I DO hope you did NOT get the nasty face of some of the bad elements of football in our beloved Denny-Bryant Stadium; for that would be horrible.

I know that sometimes in the face of competition we forget to be cordial; since these young men in crimson give it their all on the field; it's only fair that we give it ours as well to the opposition and treat you with the respect you deserve........it's a pleasure to know that: "You Are Penn State"! :BigA:

with the sad exception of a few young drunkards after the game, all i heard was Bama fans saying "hey guys, welcome to tuscaloosa" or "good to have ya'll here, enjoy the game" to the penn state fans that were walking around on and off campus. it was a very respectful and fun atmosphere all day long. i got into town about 5 hours before the game and the place was packed. a great day of college football. Thanks Ed, for coming to our campus and personifying the definition of a "classy fan." Several Penn State fans stopped by our tailgate and it was a pleasure to visit with all of you. Definitely hope to see you again in Happy Valley next year!
