If you is a redneck type like me, just head down to 2nd Ave. West of downtown is "nice" and more expensive. Vandy area (West END) is also home to more of those funny boys and girls---NOT funny Ha! Ha! Wilhagen's is a little bar off Murfreesboro Rd. that is all Bama--even though I almost got into a scrap w/ some Viles there last year. I was just "2 full of Bama" and 2 full of 90 proof!...But why do u go 2 a Bama bar when every other watering hole up here is orange?...just ...... me off!
The night before our last Music City Bowl, me and my best bud had an absolute BLAST on 2nd Ave. and surrounding avenues (1st, 3rd, 4th, Broadway, Commerce, etc.) There were TONS of Bama fans and Sweet Home A... playing everywhere. Lotta Hank Jr., lotta Merle, lotta Waylon, lotta Skynard and other southern rock standards. Pretty much a redneck Bama fan paradise! Good places are the Beer Cellar, Hooters, COYOTE UGLIES A MUST, Graham Central Sation, Big River, and many more. Lots of "cozier" little bars back on 3rd, and 4th.
Bad thing is like the mc bowl, Vandy is 1130...can u say HUNGOVER! Then HEAT STROKE! I would suggest doing the majority of your partying on Thur night. Calmer on Fri night, then good 2 go Sat AM. Hope this helps.
Oh yea, my favorite place near Vandy is San Antonio Taco Co. on 21st. Name is misleading...there mainstay is FAJITAS! This place is AWESOME and not a high class place even though in the heart of V Land. I go there anytime I'm in the area and have been since 1989. ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!
