Re: Nat'l Championship

I hate to say it, but I think it's over for us as far as getting into the BCS game goes. All of this math is great and most of it favors us and rightfully so, but the emotions of voters can change a lot after just one game. I hope I am wrong, but I think we are in some trouble. Stoops should be in some trouble, but I hope he isn't. I hope those people continue to believe that he is a great football coach. He obviously is not.

ESPN just said OSU needs

All computer #2 votes

44 out of 174 human voters to rank them 2nd. Keep in mind, Alabama was unanimous number 2 in the human polls last week.

and to have all others rank them 3rd.

A single 4th vote would be devastating to their cause.

What happens if it is a tie? We've seen a tie in the BCS poll before but, never at the end of the year and involving one of the top 2 spots. Does the BCS have tie breakers?

I think we are in but, all the stats list above got me thinking about what would happen if there was a tie.

Re: Nat'l Championship

:BigA:I think that the biggest obstacle we face is that the rest of the country is suffering from a severe case of SEC fatigue. If they could get away with it they would vote out LSU and put in anybody else.
I don't disagree and I think if anything does us in, its this. Someone people are also philosophically opposed to a rematch. But then again, why would the left coast keep themselves from winning the one thing they can-the Heisman, to help out OSU because they are tired of the SEC? That doesn't make sense to me.

I am counting on OSU only moving up to 4 to some voters and that saving Bama.

BCS guru Jerry Palm: "If the computers stay basically the same, Palm says Okie State has to finish at least 19 points ahead of Alabama in each of the human polls to have a chance. Oklahoma State currently trails Alabama by 342 points in the Harris poll and 166 points in the coaches' poll."

Well, people who didn't watch the game will see the box score. See all the turn overs. Almost 350 total yards for OU. That should be enough.

Re: Nat'l Championship

My only negative comment of the night... if West Coast voters are reluctant to vote OSU higher than their beloved Stanford, why would they second guess voting Stanford over Alabama as well. That could also hurt us.

OSU will jump to #2 in the computers.

Bama only had 95% of the #2 votes (not unanimous).

I worry about some Big 12 folks voting Bama #4. I hope the Pac 12 votes Bama up to keep Luck and Stanford in the Heisman discussion.

By the way, the SEC also overtook the Big 12 this week as the #1 rated conference. Not sure if that will change or stay the same in the final ratings, though.
The SECOND should stay #1. We went 1-1 this week and the Big 12 went 2-2. That extra loss should hurt them
