I have no memory of Armstrong's or any other moon landing. I was five when the last one happened in 1972. I doubt I'll ever see us land on the moon again. I may not see manned space flight again since NASA's mission is now to promote world peace and understanding, according to our president.

I remember it well. IMO, Apollo 8 was extremely exciting also.
Sad that in the last 30 years we have dug a hole so deep that manned space exploration is a thing of the past for quite awhile.

Eight of the 12 men to walk on the moon are still alive. The youngest (Gene Cernan?) is 78.

Astronauts are handpicked physical specimens and it shows in longevity.

Hard to be too sad, though he will be missed. If the average person could accomplish 1/10 in their lives that he did, the world would be a remarkable place.

My earliest memory of the space program was the Challenger explosion. I was hooked in by all the hype, then crushed, then intrigued by the history of space flight. It is a great example of how much a free people can do to advance our people by working creatively towards the same goal. They are lessons I wish we could try again in other areas.
