Call me old fashioned but I'm fine if every SEC team except Bama gets dumped from the NCAAT as fast as possible.

I don't give a flying crap about the SEC.

4 from Big ten
4 from Big 12.
1 ACC team.

That a pretty fair analog for how the regular season went.

At this point it’s gravy. Before now you’d have done well to pull for the conference because that could very well be the difference between whether you make the tournament or not next year.

Perception is everything, and like it or not it does carry over from year to year. Rather not go back to the days when the conference was only sending 2.

I only care about Bama.

I can respect that many SEC teams are good this year and acknowledge that teams like Fla and AU are capable of winning the NC.

But I’m not really cheering anyone on or swinging an SEC pennant around.

I know how opposing fanbases feel about Bama in general and they aren’t cheering us on ever in any sport.

I can respect that many SEC teams are good this year and acknowledge that teams like Fla and AU are capable of winning the NC.

And I care about Auburn.

And pulling for Bama against Robert Morris, or St. Mary’s, or BYU, or even mighty Duke makes *us* look better by association, and puts us in a better position in the future. It could be the difference between the SEC sending 7 or 10 in the future, and we could be the team in 8th, 9th or 10th.

It’s easy to let go of the pettiness when you realize your rival doing well benefits you too.

These last two games were fantastic. I'm especially looking forward to seeing Duke compete against Zona. This Zona team is pretty special.

They’ll smoke Arizona. Duke won’t have a real fight until they face UK, Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, or Alabama.

You're objectively right.

I'm not petty in general in life matters but in Sports and fandom I'm Ultra Petty.

I'd only be inclined to pull for say AU or Fla against teams I dislike worse like UCONN or Gonzaga or UNC or Duke etc.

Tenn or Kentucky I would never pull for under any circumstance against anybody.

But I'll also be willing to offer congrats and a hat tip to You or Bazza's if either of ya'lls squads win the NC.

I only care to beat teams like Bama or UF or Tennessee head to head. Nothing else is within Auburn’s control. But when Bama smokes a team like St. Mary’s , or UF knocks off UConn, or Tennessee smokes UCLA, it is ultimately better for Auburn.

In basketball, conference perception is everything. The SEC didn’t send 14 teams in a vacuum.
