They also bite/scratch you. That's how you become a zombie. Never seen a zombie movie?
Are you really criticizing my criticizism of you?

Yeah but I think that happens as they are trying to eat you. They dont just bite you or scratch you and walk away. They arent trying to suck your blood which requires just a bite, they want your flesh.

Zombies are regularly encountered in horror and fantasy themed fiction and entertainment. They are typically depicted as mindless, shambling, decaying corpses with a hunger for human flesh.

True, but how do you think the disease spreads? Obviously there's not just one zombie out there trying to eat everyone. There are plenty of people who just get bitten and/or scratched.

True, but I think being turned into a zombie is a much worse punishment than being eaten by a zombie. And those two, at least to this point, deserve the worst.

Great discussion

I still think if they could be infected from a scratch, it's a bacteria instead of a virus, which would complicate things greatly.

Regardless, I thought the scene last night was a bit silly where he put on the faceguard before hacking up the corpse yet everybody else gathers closely around as he does it without any face protection.

Good news. Link.

AMC announced Monday it had picked up a second season of its zombie series "The Walking Dead" after 4.7 million of the 5.3 million who watched the premiere two Sundays ago stuck around to watch the unveiling of the second episode this past Sunday night.
AMC went one step further and claimed the series had broken TV records when it reached more 18-49 year olds "than any other show in the history of cable television" (3.6 million of them two Sundays ago and 3.3 million this past Sunday at 10 p.m.)

My wife and I thought the same thing. Their hookup didn't seem like one of those where they were both in a vulnerable state from the shock of the situation. It seemed like it had been going on for a while. And I'm with you in light of everything going on, it seemed super sleazy.

Hittin' it from the back while zombie's may or may not be stalking through the woods, while your son is alone and scared with strangers during a zombie apocalypse? The whole scenario was a stretch and I hope they both get bitten.
That sounds more like a vampire movie, zombies EAT you.Im thinking the Bf and the ex get it and the man and his son ride off happily ever after into the sunlight ...and go play some ball.

from what was said last night, it would seem that the "friend" lied to Rick's wife and told her that her husband was dead.

still she jumped into bed with the guy a little too quickly and shouldn't be off in the woods with a guy with zombies around.

From the source material and I think you can infer it from the show is that she did it to get her mind off of things. Women have been known to use sex to avoid thinking about things in stressful situations.

I agree. Plus I know from experience that women will use sex to avoid stress or just to get their mind off things. I had a female friend use me once for that purpose, and I am OK with that.

Did anyone notice at the beginning that the pipe that the handcuffs were attached to was only 1/2" to 3/4" round? Im thinking I would cut that in half before I cut my dang hand off.One way are the other I would have at least taken a shot at cutting the cuffs off before my hand went.Plus wasnt it his right hand? If he was right handed he is screwed.I can say from having a broken left hand, which is the hand I use for everything, that if you cant use your dominant hand it is awful.

A couple of things bothered me about that scene. His behavior & looks just before the zombies showed up was if he had been stranded on that roof for nearly a week. He was severly burned, dehydrated, and it looked as if his cuffed hand were gangrenous.

All of that to say, it was only the next day when Rick & crew showed up to set him free. Is there something I'm missing with the timeline? They cuffed him and left him halfway thru the day just before the zombies broke in and off to camp they all went. They can't be more than 30 minutes away because we constantly see the ATL skyline while they're at camp. Yet this episode, the very next day they go to free him and he's cut his own hand off? His behavior/condition/dehydration don't match up with only having been on a roof for a day. Plus they were setting fires to keep warm at night, so it couldn't have been too hot during the day. Probably September?

I dunno, maybe I'm reading too much into it, but something didn't add up.

Think they mentioned in the episode before that the saw was too dull to cut the metal.

Probably going a little too into it for what it was. Hard to say really just how long he'd been there. I took the damage to his wrist to be just from him struggling to get loose and cutting his skin. Also don't know how long the group had been in the city without necessarily having much to drink, etc. before he was stuck.

I have really been enjoying this show. They do a good job of mixing in the zombie stuff, but the story of how society is reforming. I am glad amc reupped for a second season.

Last night's episode was fantastic. I thought they did some great character development and laid the groundwork for some very good story lines in the future. And through all that, this is still a show about the zombie apocalypse, and they do that part very well. This show is fast becoming one of my favorites.

Really loving the show, has actually made me want to go back and read the comic book series again.

Curious where the first season is going to end up in the story arc, and hoping the 2nd season doesn't take too long to come out.

I haven't read the comic yet, I think I am going to grab it when this first season wraps up.

Dunno when the second season will start, hope it will start next summer.

I immediately felt bad for the actors & actresses killed off in that episode. I hope they new it was a temp gig before they saw the script for that episode - might be their last break for a while.

I would imagine so, most of the folks killed were those who had been in the camp the entire time, they probably could have done all of their scenes in one day. If you look at the show page, the main cast is actually pretty small, as compared to how many characters we have seen at the moment.

Plus, you have to think at least some of them might make a comeback as a zombie ;)
