Question: New South Zone Offerings

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

Are any of yall opiting for seats in the new south zone. I got email offering from tide pride yesterday, but would have to give up two of my seats to get two zone seats. Plus its 4K a year in tide pride donations. I have never sat in zone before, of yall out there who have is it worth it?

I gave up 4 Touchdown Club seats in west side upper deck (above the press box) to get 4 seats in the new South Zone. As a result, I was invited to sit in the existing "Zone" for the A-Day game. I do not regret my decision (even with the steep additional cost).

The view of the field is just fine -- obviously it's "north and south" rather than "end to end" like you have with sideline seats, but from the high end zone seats, you've got a view of the entire field, and even from 40+ rows up, it all seemed lots closer than my upper deck seats. The only time I felt like I wasn't seeing as much is when the teams scrimmaged from inside the 20 on the opposite end of the field -- depth perception gets lost, and it's hard to distinguish a 2 yard gain from a 10 yard gain, other than crowd reaction.

With that said, the amenities in The Zone skybox are fantastic. My wife said the beautiful, clean bathrooms alone are worth whatever extra we're paying for those seats! It's climate controlled, carpeted, with pregame meal and all you can eat and drink from 2 hours before kickoff to 30 minutes after the game ends. Closed circuit television throughout, and a locker in the "pouring room" in case you want to stock it with your alcoholic beverage of choice.

On top of all that, the South Zone seats will most often be in the shade, while The Zone in the north end is always looking right into the sun. I can't wait for the grand opening of the South Zone on August 20 (there's an invitation-only "open house" planned) and then for the start of the season on September 4!!

Personally to me nothing beats being in the stans high fiving people you meet 40 minutes before kickoff. I have sat in the "Zone" once and it was really neat and they treat you well no doubt. I guess to me it is just more fun being down in the madness of the stands than in a box. Different strokes for different folkes I guess! Roll Tide none the less!

We've been in the North Zone for 3 years and love it. Was offered the chance to move but didn't think $1,500/yr extra for our three tickets was worth the shade so we stayed in the North.

That being said, I LOVE the Zone and can't think of anywhere better to sit. You have the amenities of a skybox while still retaining the "high fiving" feeling you get in the stands...

I'm graciously declining/ignoring the South Zone offer that I received. I can't justify trading in my 3 lower level 30 yard line seats, which cost the equivalent of 1 South Zone seat. 1 for 3 is a very very bad deal, especially considering the steep decline in viewing quality...I've experienced plenty of end zone and sky box viewing of Bama games to appreciate what I have.

Edit: I actually laughed out loud as I read through the offer last week, especially as I read the "give up your current seats" requirement.

Having to give up seats was a big downer for me to. I did not want to give up my cent. club seats which are $260 a year donation for 2 seats for zone seats that will be 4k donation for 2 seats. If i did not like the zone or if i had money issues for a year and could not afford the 4k i would loose my seats. If i didnt have to give up my seats the offer might be more attractive.

How is the seating laid out in the south zone?
It's the top 12 or 14 rows stretching across the entire south end zone. Those seats are walled off from the rest of the end zone seating, which will be the expanded student section. Each aisle in the South Zone leads up to double glass doors for entry into the South Zone skybox.

Thanks. So if u go through the glass doors is that where the food and lockers and restrooms are? So they are all the way across but there are only a few rows? Interesting. Would these seats be a good option for someone with a 1 1/2 year old? I figure it'd at least be cooler inside.

Also, what's the area where the food is like? Are there tables and chairs or do u get it and take it back to your seat.

I don't like the view from there. Sat there may time during my student days. I'd take seats on the 20-50 any day over endzone.

Yes. Much cooler inside... warmer, too, if needed. Food is good and there are a variety of meal selections and game-day snacks. There is table seating, isolated couch/chair areas, and high top circular standing tables. Plenty of televisions around. Restroom facilities are clean and uncrowded. Eat inside or out. However... end zone view from top of lower bowl. HTH, RTR!

The box itself is like a large hotel lobby. Lots of tables and chairs, full buffet, various snack and drink stations. If you're even considering taking an 18-month-old to a game (and you're braver than I, if so!), access to the box should make it much easier. My wife says the clean bathrooms alone are worth the extra cost! And the view from high end zone seats is just fine. You lose a little depth perception when the line of scrimmage is inside the opposite 20 yard line, but otherwise you can see everything no problem.
