Everybody's been saying this was just a way to install his son as HC at NC.
He'd probably have to stay at least a year, in order for that to happen. The report was that his son would be named head coach in waiting if Bill were the coach, but surely they wouldn't honor that if Bill left a month later. That's why I think he'll ultimately end up staying. He just signed the contract last week, so I don't think he does that if he's going to leave a week later. Why not wait another week if you wanna get back into the NFL that badly?

Lots of questions being asked about Tom Brady’s role in “talks” with Belichick. There are several clauses in Fox Network contract and and stipulations in his minority ownership (10% Raiders) agreement with the NFL Owners that prevents “contact” in certain situations. What those stipulations are, I’m not certain, but questions are being asked.

The buyout for Belichick at UNC is $10 million. It drops to $1 million June 1st. Ten million is walking around money to NFL owners
Interesting that his buyout would drop so much before his first season even starts.

Yeah…It’s like he’s a coach up in his years and at the sunset of a career. No one would want him.
In all seriousness, even at $10 million now, no one absolutely set on hiring Belichick would bat at an eye at paying that buyout. It is almost like not having a buyout at all.

Bill Belichik could make millions being a spokesman for some specialized pharmaceutical company he's a little above average coach without a once in a lifetime QB.

I really don't know. I have been hearing they'll basically pull a "Mike Price" situation in that it'll be too late to get a real candidate in time before the season starts and his boy will be the default caretaker. If he does well, the pressure will be to keep him. If he doesn't, well, daddy did what he could.

That thought had entered my mind.
