The Crimson Tide managed just two hits in Sunday’s series finale

4/13/2025

TUSCALOOSA, AL –
After No. 12 Alabama baseball leveled the score in the sixth, Mississippi State produced solo home runs in the seventh and eighth innings, as the Crimson Tide were unable to find the recipe for a comeback in Sunday's 4-2 loss at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The defeat drops Alabama to 29-8 overall and 8-7 in Southeastern Conference play.

Tyler Fay was tasked with the start in the rubber game, allowing just two runs and two hits over 3.1 innings with just one walk and four strikeouts. The redshirt sophomore surrendered a single and a two-run home run to the first two batters he faced before retiring 10 consecutive Bulldogs between the first and fourth innings. Matthew Heiberger was efficient in his brief appearance, allowing just one hit while striking out two over his 2.0 scoreless frames.

Braylon Myers (2-1) managed four strikeouts in 1.2 innings of work, though the senior was responsible for the go-ahead home run in the seventh, earning the loss. Carson Ozmer contributed a scoreless ninth, notching a strikeout in a perfect final inning.

Alabama produced just two hits on Sunday, including a double by Will Hodo and a bunt single from Brady Neal. Richie Bonomolo Jr. and Kade Snell each supplied an RBI apiece as the result of sacrifice flies.

From Head Coach Rob Vaughn

"Obviously a tough one today. You want to finish well on Sunday – played a great one yesterday and we pitched well enough to win today. With the exception of one inning, there was no traffic on the bases, but we made three mistakes and those balls left the yard, and that ends up being the game. I thought they threw the ball extremely well but I'll have to go back and look to see if that was more about them executing or if that was just us missing stuff. We competed but we weren't good enough offensively. Now it's time to regroup and get ready for UAB on Tuesday."
