The Crimson Tide relied on Carson Ozmer to close both contests, earning the series victory

5/11/2025

TUSCALOOSA, AL–
No. 23 Alabama baseball claimed both games on Sunday at Sewell-Thomas Stadium, improving to 39-13 overall and 15-12 in Southeastern Conference play. The Crimson Tide started the day by defeating the Bulldogs, 9-3, in the completion of Friday's suspended contest before taking the series finale, 5-4, in seven innings.

From Head Coach Rob Vaughn

"That's a really good team over there. Their offense is scary, they grind out at-bats and they've got power arms on the mound. I'm really proud of our kids. We got beat pretty good in game one the other day, and like I knew we would, we responded and got a lead. Braylon Myers was outstanding in game one, coming in and getting a big out with a runner on third and holding the game for us. Carson Ozmer was just selfless today. There aren't many guys who would be willing to pitch in two games in one day, but I saw him start ripping pitches in the bullpen and knew he was ready. Happy to send our seniors out of here with a win on senior day but now we have to get rested up and head to play one of the hottest teams in the country this weekend."

GAME ONE

No. 23 Alabama baseball outlasted No. 6 Georgia, 9-3, in the resumption of game two of the series on Sunday morning. Leading 6-2 when the game was suspended on Friday night, the Crimson Tide called upon Braylon Myers, who entered the contest with one out and a runner on third base in the top of the fifth. Myers and Carson Ozmer limited the Bulldogs to a single run while Richie Bonomolo Jr. added a three-run homer in the eighth to put the game out of reach.

Riley Quick made the start, working 4.1 innings of two-run, seven-strikeout ball before the rain halted the action. Myers (3-1) earned the victory as the first man out of the bullpen, allowing just one run over the 2.2 innings that he pitched. The Alabama native recorded four strikeouts while walking one, surrendering three hits. Ozmer earned his 15th save of the season after entering the game with a three-run lead and working 2.0 scoreless innings. The transfer reliever broke the single-season program saves record of 14 set by Ben Short in 1991.

The Crimson Tide blasted three home runs in the victory, starting with Justin Lebron's two-run shot in the first. Bryce Fowler added a towering two-run homer of his own just before play was halted on Friday night, with Richie Bonomolo Jr. lifting a three-run homer to left in the eighth on Sunday. Fowler, Lebron and Jason Torres each recorded a pair of hits in the victory, while Brady Neal worked a season-high three walks and scored two runs. The Tide's patient approach at the plate led to nine walks, the team's second-most in an SEC game, with five of those free bases leading to runs.
