Nobody has ever stayed "on top" for longer than 3 to 5 years

Right here, Right now
He's talking about dynasties. Fla St, though finishing in the top for a LONG time has still only won 1 title in the history of the BCS. That may change tonight but even still they never strung together multiple titles in a three to four year span.

Top 5 for 14 straight years. That was a super football program. And the dynasty word would definitely get tossed around some if not for the dynasty they kept running into just south in Miami. Bowden could recruit the best. Kicker, not so much.

Do Alabama not get 5 star QBs, if not why is that the case? Are they looking for a system that's more geared to letting them showcase their throwing prowess to the NFL?
Last year was a weak year for QBs and I think McCarron being solidified as a starter who was unlikely to leave early affected some of the QB prospect interest in past seasons. We have an elite QB coming in this year and another coming in next season. It is just plain hard to recruit elite talent at that position every season because of the nature of the position. You kind have to project on some middle-tier guys when you have an entrenched starter and bring in the elite talent when they're about to leave.

I think we are still on track. It's still taking Herculean efforts to beat Bama or major flukes.

Agreed. The other teams QB has to have a career day to beat us. When I graduated from UA, CMD was head coach. What we've done since CNS has come to Tuscaloosa is unbelievable to me. 60-7 since 2008 with 3 BCS Titles & 2 SEC Titles. I'll take that any day of the week.

I hope we can change with the game. It appears CNS is bound and determined to do it his way. We will see.
This, I think, is a key factor. At some points, I think he's hard-headed and unlikely to make any major changes, but then I think back to what he's done for defense in the past. Getting in to x's and o's, here is a great piece on how he adapted schematically to 2x2 formations while playing cover 3. He was with the Browns at the time, and they were getting shredded in the passing game by 4 vertical routes, but he wanted 8 in the box. He came up with a concept called Rip/Liz match - it's great stuff.

I believe he'll adjust this off-season to what we're facing now.

This is where I really look forward to seeing what Coach Saban can do. He has obviously shown the ability to build programs and lead them to championships. Now, can he maintain top level performance over time? I think it will be interesting to see, and I certainly hope he can do it. I have a feeling that he may look forward to meeting the challenge of the young bucks and their hurry up offenses. I'm guessing that his smile would be even bigger if he leads us back to another national title.

One two loss season on the heels of 3 National Titles won in 4 years by the Tide does not signal the end of this dynasty. There is no indication that this program is letting up. We all need to step back a little and appreciate exactly what we are witnessing in Tuscaloosa. This coach will have at least 3 more crystal balls in in the trophy case before he is done and all we have to do is enjoy the ride.

I laughing aloud at the concept that the 'game has passed CNS by' or that he needs to revamp his philosophy. That's funny.
Yeah me to. Please somebody give me 1 or 2 good reasons why he cat win another NC before he retires??? We have another #1 recruiting class coming in and already stacked from top to bottom in talent. Alabama will be fine. These guys will have plenty of motivation coming into 2014. 235 days until we play WVU.

Revamp? Probably not. Adjust? Constantly.
The best comparison I can come up with is Duke basketball. Coach K doesn't win it all every year, but his teams are always a factor. A run where other teams may come and go, but Bama is always one of the teams to beat, is fine with me, especially if a few more championships are thrown in.

Haven't got a chance to read whole thread, but I beat there is a correlation of having too much talent on a team and dropping bs games.
