We should win this by 3 scores but gussy is masterful with a cocky under talented mobile qb so I dunno. I expect norvell to have given Gus a wide berth on the playbook so I expect a some what diff offense from fsu this season. If we’ve fixed what vandy did to us I think we’ll be ok. If not, Gus will to go in hard

I am no freeshoes fan but they have given us a game the few times we have played them. We will be at their stadium and it will be their biggest game of the season. As much as I'd like to blow them out I believe I'd have to take the underdogs plus the points in this one.

He's just playing psychological games. When you cannot match the talent of your opponent on the field all you can do is try to get inside their heads. Just because Malzahn had some success against us in the Saban era doesn't mean he'll have success again. Although I'm not an X's and O's guy I imagine our defensive scheme now is quite different from the Saban era.
I can't wait to see the FSU Razzle Dazzle, and to see what we do. I hope we run over them and drive em into the ground.

If Saban were still here this game would be a blow out. I'm interested to see how prepared we are with Deboer in this case. Still should win and probably by a couple scores but we should have beat OU too even with our QB issues last year

I'm not really worried about Gus. Eye discipline on defense matters a lot. Just keep everything in front of them and we'll be fine.
That sort of misdirection was especially problematic for a Nick Saban defense which is predicated on everyone doing a specific job, it was especially problematic early in the season. The Swarm defense is a little simpler to execute and puts a premium on reaction and pursuit. I'm not saying they won't have to be disciplined, I am saying those types of offenses aren't as dangerous to us "schematically" as they were under Saban

In the four weeks after us, FSU plays East Texas A&M, off week, Kent State and Virginia.

We are all aware of Malzahn’s prep for us. He sells out.

In this case, he has all spring, all summer, and all fall camp. And after us he plays nobody until Miami on October 4. Then (assuming Miami is actually “somebody”) the next games are Pitt — who lost their last 6 games of 2024, including 37-9 to Louisville and the bowl game to Toledo — Stanford, and Wake Forest, before Clemson on November 8.

I guarantee you, since his hiring into Tallahassee on December 2, Gus Malzahn has devoted 0 seconds to anything other than prep for us — because he has absolutely nothing to lose by doing so, and 5 weeks after us to catch his team up on the non-Alabama aspects of football.

Yes, we’re a better team. But give a lesser team 9 months to prepare for a single game with no distractions, and the landscape changes.

I still think we win. But at a 10-point spread, I think the Noles are the value play.

The rule changes from a few years back has slowed the moozahn and right reverend hugh freeze down. The sub rule killed it. Gus offense: misdirection run, misdirection run, 3rd and 9, throw it as far as you can down the middle of the field. Bama 31-7.

If we start getting gashed on a series or three and our players are gassed in the first half, I'd love to see us call a timout and sub and let them breath. Something CNS would not do... Don't let those TOs go to waste!

Yeah, I remember one game last year we used all of our TOs in the first half up. I couldn't believe it.

I never understood why CNS wouldn't use 'em.

I just remember Auburn gashing us in 2013 and other years in the first half under the Gus Bus and we could have stopped the game, subbed, breathed, and maybe saved a drive or three. But instead we left most of those TOs on the board!
