....that he wants to get into coaching. He said he wants to come back here as a GA and WR coach. He is a great young man and well spoken about Alabama and the opportunities it has given him. He has been clutch in every big game it can think of and I'm just proud of him for graduating, soon getting his masters and being the player he is. :BigA:

This was a bit from The Nick Saban Show tonight.

If he has the speed I don't see why he won't make it to the next level. But I honestly don't know how fast he is.

Kevin is plenty fast enough to play at the next level. That being said, the NFL is different than college when it comes to being a receiver.
In college, yes, you can sometimes simply use blazing speed to run by a corner. In the NFL, no matter how fast you might be, 99% of the corners will be just as fast and probably a little quicker than you are. Therefore, the ability to run precision routes and separate from coverage by a half step is more important because the QB can drill it into a very small window. Kevin has it down pat in that regard. He runs a beautiful route and has great leaping ability and hands. He'll play.

I hope he gets a chance in the NFL.

But selfishly, I'd like him to come back and teach young players how to catch with their hands and run precise routes.

Bama Jamma, I am so glad you posted about Norwood. I saw his interview last night on television, as well. I was so impressed with his words and overall attitude. He seemed very humble and quite grateful for his education and to be a part of the Alabama team and history of the program. He seems to be the type of player you would really want on your team. I wish him the best in his future!

I would love to see him come back & give the coaching gig a try..The one player on our team that has HC written all over him to me though is AJ, I dunno, I see traits in him like that of Coach Saban..And I honestly Coach Saban knows that as well, and is why he seems closer to AJ, than any one Player since coming to Bama..AJ has that spark plug "aura" about him that few has & that translates well into him becoming an effective coach..JMHO

Norwood has saved our butts in many a game these last few years. While the glory goes to others I for one won't forget what he has done in making Alabama the best college football program in history.

The OP used the one word that came to mind when I read the title: CLUTCH. He may be the largest "silent" contributor to Bama's success during this dynasty run. When we have to have it, when the chains have to move, when its do-or-die, Norwood has been there for this team. I don't know if you can coach that into young WRs, but the man is a winner.

Any pro QB would appreciate Kevin's ability in crunch time. When those guys slip the ball into a tight window, they expect it to be caught, especially when it really matters. Kevin rises up in those moments.

I hope he gets a chance in the NFL, He's been extremely clutch for us, and a big game receiver...it seems that anytime we need it, he makes a great catch and moves the chains. But I'm glad he's planning in case he doesnt get that chance; for whatever reason, he doesn't seem to be rated that high for WR's....

One of my favorites on the team just because he's the epitome of a team player.

Norwood is one of those special players that you can depend on when the chips are down.......the guy you want in the fox hole with you. I personally believe his intangibles and above average receiving skills will be attractive to those that look beyond numbers. He'll be one of those 4-6th rounders that ends up staying on the same team for 10+ years.

Quick story about Kevin. His High School coach Buddy Singleton told me this story.
Kevin was always a pretty good kid but had trouble with his temper occasionally.
When Kev was a junior his D'Iberville team was playing on the road in the state playoffs.
When they boarded the team bus to travel to the game Kevin and another player got into a bit of a shoving match over a "Seat dispute".
Seems they both wanted the same seat. The dispute increased into a couple of punches being thrown.
Coach Singleton intervened and asked both Kevin and the other player to step off the bus with him.
When they did Coach singleton said, "If you guys want to meet the team bus after the game we should be back by midnight".
He then got on the bus, closed the door, and told the driver to drive, leaving his best player(Kevin) at home.
Coach said he never had another problem at all with Kevin after that.
There's something to be said about discipline and Coach Singleton has absolutely no tolerance for a lack of it.
That move probably made a huge difference in Kevin's character because he's been a poster boy since playing for Bama.
Thought ya'll might enjoy that tidbit, or should I say "Tide" Bit.
sip

I agree with this. Norwood has always been gold when needed
