its in cns contract that lsu's skip bertman has to be notified prior to any interview. some sources are reporting that cns interviewed this past weekend- that would be tough to do considering has was in new orleans at state championship games. until lsu reports it i consider it a rumor.

From the article:
The Dolphins would not comment except to say that they would follow the appropriate protocol in their search, which in this case would mean contacting LSU Athletic Director Skip Bertman. Saban's contract allows him to interview with an NFL club between now and the Tigers' Capital One Bowl on Jan. 1 in Orlando.

He has not already interviewed with the Dolphins. As of today, the Dolphins have not asked to interview Saban. It is in their charter to ask permission. The rumor is that Saban will interview sometime later this week.

Not one to post rumors without appropriate links...here they are:

Miami Herald: No Interview with Saban Yet...

Agent Jimmy Sexton, who represents Saban, said Monday no interview between the Dolphins and Saban has been scheduled or even discussed. Saban was on a recruiting trip Monday and unavailable.

A Dolphins source later confirmed no permission has been sought but said Saban is an attractive candidate based on his success at Michigan State and LSU and his background as an NFL assistant.

Saban's name is so prominent in Miami circles, several Dolphins assistants were discussing before Sunday's Dolphins-Broncos game the possibility of Saban being hired.

I agree with TideTiger. But I can't help wondering if Saban's departure or even rumors about it might help us nab some of their prospects.....

that trick has been tried before, with a recruiting class that are ranked in the top 5 in most years - i would guess that it isn't working.

Miami is one of those

marquee jobs. I believe he would go if he was given the right level of control.

I agree...

given the misfunctional front office there, I've been trying to imagine just what safeguards I would insist on in a contract. One problem that can occur, if those safeguards are granted, is boosting the coach beyond his own competency. Holmgren and Seattle is just the most recent example...

I doubt the Dolphins will let that happen after being burned by that very thing with Wannstedt.

Saban's agent, Jimmy Sexton, is one of the shrewdest representatives on the planet. The Dolphins don't need to interview Saban at all. They can just have their people deal with Sexton, with Sexton either relating the discussions with his client as they go along, or Sexton negotiating based on a set of conditions Saban has already laid out.

If the Dolphins ever do officially seek permission to contact Saban, then you can pretty much take the announcement itself that the deal is done and Saban is gone.

This whole interview process is so much window dressing.

First of all, just because SABAN himself has not had any

discussions with the Dolphins DOES NOT mean that his agent Jimmy Sexton hasn't been in contact with them! The only stipulation is that Saban himself can't interview with them. However, his agent has likely had discussions and depending upon how those discussions go, will decide his ultimate decision to interview. If they can't even come to some certain perameters of a deal if they were to offer him the job, there would be no reason to interview him. Therefore, I would expect that if they can come to a preliminary agreement you'll see an interview and if not, you won't.

LOL

I've heard of great minds thinking alike, but great minds thinking alike at the same time?!?

It's gotta be an omen of some kind.

As a Tiger fan I have been hesitant to particpate however its official Saban is probably leaving us for the Dolphins.

He is interviewing with them...

Frankly, I have grown weary of this every single year and hope he goes to the NFL so LSU can move on. I know thats a shocker but thats how one LSU fan thinks. I love Saban he brought us to the promise land but its time for him to either commit to LSU or get his NFL job he seems to covet. 2 years now he has interviewed with some NFL team. Professional Courtesty ??? Fine how come other coaches how are content dont do that. LSU gave him everything he wanted, highest salary, new facilities... you name it. I thought maybe just once he might give something back. I guess I live in la la land...
