I don’t know what Saban’s plan is, but I know he has one, and has several backups in case the top options don’t materialize.

The fact that Leonhard has been on the market since Wisky’s bowl game, and there hasn’t been a word from him, gives me hope that he’s our guy.

It might be Pruitt. Or it might not be. But whatever is in the works, Saban has Plans A, B, C, and D, covering all the contingencies we’ve discussed, especially around Pruitt.

BOB, I don’t know. I think he’s headed for Tampa. But regardless, we’ll have a different OC in 2023. No clue as to who.
What position does Leon coach?

What position does Leon coach?
He coached DBs in the past, and played safety for 10 years in the NFL. So I’m guessing he’d coach safeties in addition to DC responsibilities.

But that’s a guess — Given that Saban himself spends time with the DBs, he might have other ideas.

And all that assumes Leonhard is the next DC. The coming days will be interesting.

We don't have to figure out how all of this will impact Bama when CNS retires...but some of you have healthy imaginations! 😁

Seems as though AA is the "next" PG in that CNS has identified a young defensive coach that he believes has a great future.

Concerning Schuman, I know he's got Alabama connections, but is he a better option than Leonard or Pruit? Or, is he just "hot" because he's connected to Georgia's defense, the latest talk of the town?

I have an update and again TIFWIW. My friend's source is now saying we may end up hiring Schuman from UGA as DC and Pruitt as an analyst (said Pruitt is still too toxic for DC). He said Saban is deciding between Leeby and Mullen for the OC position. Lost some credibility with the backtracking on Pruitt so I will leave it as this until they make official hires.

out of all of them I would hope Leonhard is the guy, and it’s because he is the least likely to jump after one year if things go very well.

Schumann would be #2 choice because it pulls a resource away from Georgia and upgrades our situation.

I continue to say "NO" to Mullen but much of that is based on his failures as a HC. I know he was a good OC at UF under Meyer, but beyond that and Tebow's jump pass I really don't remember that much about his offensive characteristics. Seems to be a good QB coach (although I think Dak Prescott is one of the most overhyped QBs in the NFL). So what's the draw with DM?

I usually agree with you, but not on this. The offense's inability to RUN THE BALL, and move the chains is why defense looked as bad as it did this season. We won a national title in one of those 4 seasons, almost won another in a second too, so it wasn't that bad dude.

Why would we offer the guy 2 million to stay, you don't offer two million dollars to try a retain a guy unless you really want him to stay.
Provide the link that Saban offered him $2 million to stay. Second, both coordinators needed to go. If you can't see that the defense never made any improvement from goldings first year to this year, despite the talent, you are willingly ignorant of the fact that PG was not a good DC.

we literally won a national title with PG as DC and almost won a second if we didnt lose both 1,000 yard receivers to injuries we beat UGA Last year. No body was calling for PG's head like they are now back then now were they, you know what is different? BOB. I like how everyone so comfortable pinning both of those losses on the DC instead of the offense, it's actually comical.

You right about that, but one needed to be replaced more than one we get to replace.
We won a national title because of Mac, Najee, Smitty and Metchie scoring 50 pts a game.

Just saw this article a minute ago and thought I would post it. ESPN’s Pete Thamel is reporting that Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide are set to hire Southern Miss defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong to its coaching staff. © Provided by Roll Tide Wire.
