I agree ... I've been saying all season that they are different team. I'm excited we won. We can handle kentucky. Kentucky has went into overtime twice already, and I think mentality they aren't playing hard.

Great road win! Let's get one against SC next week! Didn't see any of the game, but looks like a great defensive effort by the team.. .especially when TN tied it up midway through the second half.

Especially surprised to see Jimmie Taylor get double-digit points. Man, if he matures and becomes a consistent scorer, that will improve our team Dramatically.

Great win. Once we blocked Richardson's shot the entire game changed. Another double digit win and Texas A&M may be better than we think. I hope we can keep this going. Roll Tide!!!!

Anybody notice how when we went to that zone that's when Tennessee couldn't score? Same thing happened when we played Wichita state except we went back man at the end of that game and lost.....we play a really good Zone defense and I think we should play more zone

He doesn't have to score to be important, but he was getting some great feeds right underneath today...

A tidbit from ESPN:

"STAT LINES

Since losing 97-84 at Xavier on Dec. 6, Alabama has limited its last eight opponents to 50.9 points per game. Alabama shot 12 free throws to Tennessee's 11, making the Crimson Tide 10-0 this season when shooting more foul shots than its opponent."

I was a little off in a post I made in another thread regarding UT's inside game and Bama's. I mentioned that Bama would have it tough against any team with a strong inside game just like UT. UT's is awful and Bama's has improved with hopefully the biggest improvement being staying out of foul trouble. I think Kessens and Taylor have gotten better in this aspect but we'll see when they play a team with inside power. (Kessens made a dumb foul in the UT game which I hope Coach Grant pointed out.)

I am missing Hale. I wish the offense would work him into space at about 12 to 16 feet from the basket and let him work from there. He can shoot the jumper or drive. He doesn't seem to work well with his back to the basket down low; the other times he gets the ball is when he is behind the arc.

I too am missing Hale. I thought he would be a huge piece to our team this year, but so far, he has struggled. Boy oh boy, if he gets it together, watch out!!! He's got a ton of talent and we've seen him produce. I think it's a confidence thing right now.

I didn't see your other post, but UT's offensive inside game is one of the weakest we see, IMO. It basically was Richardson driving. When we managed to counter that, they sort of disappeared, except for a few backdoor shots. Their whole defensive philosophy revolves around covering up their lack of height inside and we couldn't shoot them out of it, in the first 3/4 of the game. Near the end, I don't know if we caught on to their defense or if we just wore them down enough that they couldn't keep up with us inside. We will find out. I like this team more than any other Grant team so far. The UT coach's remark to his players that they "couldn't out- tough us; they'd have to out-play us," with his follow on of "we didn't do it" told me worlds. We gotta get more out of Levi and Kessens...

The other post was a response in a thread about how UT would have real problems with a team that had a strong inside player and some discussion on whether Taylor could be "that guy". I just figured Bama has struggled against the same type of team but Taylor and Kessens do play okay, at least defensively, against good inside players often enough to show me they can when they don't allow the ball to get in too deep, they use their feet for position, and they stay out of foul troulbe (of course the 3rd item is directly related to the 1st two).

In this game, I agree about not being able to shoot UT out of the game early. At one point when Bama had around 25 points or so I was thinking they should really have more and a comfortable lead in the 1st half.

The young men played outstanding defense overall today. We do need to stop players getting shots off the dribble better. On the offensive end we still do not have a consistent flow against a zone. Glad to come out of the "ville" with the win.
