Irony. I thought they hated the big conferences. Maybe now their state government can do something else besides harass congress about not playing in the BCS game.

They give the Pac-10 a good program in basketball and football. If accepted, I wonder where they play the Pac 12 championship game? Qwest Field in Seattle, Qualcomm in San Diego, or Glendale, AZ

Glendale if they want to kep it inside. But Qwest is a cool stadium, but exposed to the elements.

We will see how they stack up against the mediocre Pac-10 week and week out.
Wouldn't quite call the PAC 10 mediocre. The ACC yes, but not PAC 10. Remember, USC (Auburn"x2" and Arkansas"x2"), UCLA (Bama"x2" and Tennessee) and California (Tennessee) have all defeated SEC teams the last few years. And Washington gave LSU fits. And Oregon will probably beat Tennessee this year.

UCLA beat a bad UT team

USC was on a different level than the rest of the Pac10...and they got caught cheating.

And a 7-6 Oregon team did manage to beat Mississippi State in Eugene, OR back in 2002.

That's not my point. My point is they PAC was better than the SEC in those games. As a whole, the SEC is not very good against the PAC (based on record since 1998, SEC is 7-10). The bottom of the PAC is probably worse than the bottom of the SEC, and thats a stretch; but the top 2 or 3 teams are fairly equal. Not saying the PAC would beat the SEC, but it would be a very competitive game. My whole point is that the PAC is better than mediocre.

Washington and Oregon State both gave LSU fits. The other PAC/SEC matchups showcased down SEC programs vs. mediocre PAC prorams where PAC squeked out W's (with the exception of USC overe Barn, but SC cheated)

Define medicore. If the SEC teams were down, wouldn't that make the SEC medicore. The bottom line is this. The SEC currently only has 3 Elite level teams. Alabama, Florida and LSU(based strictly on talent). They currently have 4 good to average teams, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia and S Carolina. The rest are currently mediocre to bad; Tennessee, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Miss St and Vanderbilt.

Notice I marked them as currently, not historically. And by currently I mean the last 2-3 years. So at the top the SEC is the best, no doubt; but as a whole, the conference is average at best.

And the last couple years its been Bama and Florida, then everyone else.

No, the SEC was not mediocre. UGA and LSU were atop at different times than us and FL. Throw in Aubie's pretty good run last decade and UT still had some good 10 win seasons

People certainly didn't think Alabama was mediocre when UCLA embarrassed us in 2000. We went in ranked #3 coming off of a 10 win season. We had bad coaching and a dysfunctional staff, but the team had talent. I too don't want to call the Pac-10 mediocre, I agree the top may not be quite as good as the top SEC (with USC out of the picture). However, I think the mid-level Pac-10 schools would give the mid-level SEC teams a good game.

And the mid-level Pac-10 teams have given the mid-level SEC teams good games in the past ten years
